“Fantastic hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

I cannot fault this lovely hotel in any way. The owners and all their excellent staff were kind, friendly and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and trouble free.
Our large party which included 10 children and a baby were well catered for at special children's supper times and the entertainment at Kids Club and in evenings was exceptional.
The buffet breakfasts were fantastic and the evening meals well cooked and very generous, far exceeding our expectations.
I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to families even though it is a 10 minute walk to the town and slopes as the hotel runs a very efficient electric bus service to the sister hotel,The Waldesruh, which is right on the edge of the ski slopes, where skis etc. can be left in lockers.

We had a lovely time at the Alphubel with our 2 children (5 and 7 years) where we stayed for a week. As soon as you enter through the door you are part of the family. The owners will do everything to keep you and the kids entertained. The dining is excellent and they are plenty of activities organized for the kids (e.g. pizza baking). There is even a game-room in the hotel as well a creche
Although located at the other side of town compared to the ski meeting points, you do not need to walk with your ski-gear. At the first day your ski equipment is stalled at the Waldesruh, a partner hotel, that is just next to the meeting points. Transportation can be arranged on simple request
No doubt I recommend this place to everyone travelling with kids.

I would highly recommend this hotel to other guests, especially those with children. It is a friendly and welcoming hotel where you feel nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellent (breakfast and dinner) and the children's meals are also of a high standard with seconds available for hungry children, like mine! The view from the hotel surely has to be the best in Saas Fee and although this means a longer walk to the slopes, there is a ski bus which takes you to and from them at various points in the day. We loved the Swiss evening, dancing and night sledging-all organised by the hotel owners. It is no surprise we have booked again for our fourth trip to the Alphubel.

Room Tip: Choose a south facing room with a balcony for a view which is out of this world!

Stayed end jan 2013, travelling alone so nervous as to what I would find. Hotel could not have been nicer, however. Had a lovely single room with a magical view over the town to the mountains. Room always tidy and warm, hotel staff very friendly.
Only issue I had was with communication - I was the only British person in the hotel and swiss german seemed to be the language of choice.
Food is excellent. Buffet style breakfast with a hot option then four course dinner - great salad bar if you need to fill up!
If you are skiing it is a good 15 minute walk to the lifts. The Alphubel has a sister hotel right next to the lift however and you can leave your skis/boots there. Also Snowpoint bar at the foot of the slopes is run by the same family and is a great place for apres if that is your thing.
The town is traffic free although there is an electric skibus to get you back to the hotel after a hard days skiing.
Have been to many ski resorts and this is a place and hotel I will definately return to.

Room Tip: Ask for one with a view over the town - awesome

Based on the good reviews we had booked a room here for a weekend in March 2012. The lady that I had called from the hotel told me it was the last one available. I guess that should have warned me. The room was on the backside of the hotel, really small and the interior without charme, no balcony and a view to a stonewall. There were holes in the bedsheets, the bathroom was old and the shower curtain had unidentifiable stains. All in all disappointing, especially for the price.

I substantiate all the previous positive reviews of this hotel. It is a real find but do not confuse it with the unreviewed CHALET Alphubel which is also in Saas Fee. The food at HOTEL Alphubel is exceptional and at low cost. Although the included breakfast is a buffet, continental style, the variety and quality of food available is superb. I highly recommend that the half board be selected for the evening meal. The food is exceptional and at a price of about 50% of what you will pay in other establishments in Saas Fee. We did not travel with children. Ours are at university but the children in the hotel were never a problem during our one week stay because they were always provided for and entertained. It was such a delight to see such happy, well behaved children. We found all the staff and guests very friendly despite our total inability to speak Swiss German. They all struggled to speak English effectively. A staff member at the desk also spoke French which was useful for us.
I am sure you will enjoy your stay as much as we did.
Don't let the location deter you. It provides a lovely view of the town and the majestic scenery, it is 5 minutes walk to the town center and ten minutes to the lifts. However, the free private electric taxi service takes you to and from the lifts as well as collects and delivers you and your luggage from and to your car in the parking area at the end of your stay. Luggage is brought up to your room on arrival and collected from your room when you leave. In addition there is frequent free public transportation throughout the town. The nearest stop for this public service is the Allalin hotel, 2 minutes walk from the Alphubel Hotel.
(The skiing and scenery were also fabulous.)

Room Tip: The view more than justifies the extra cost for a room with a balcony.

I have just returned from an amazing week in the Alphubel Hotel in Saas-Fee. As many reviews have said, the service and hospitality is excellent and I have not found a friendlier place to stay. The resort and hotel is very good for children, as we were in the minority being a couple. This time of year the village is very quiet and unlike some areas of the Swiss Alps, you can manage to get away from other people and have a corner of the mountain to yourself. The hotel has recently won awards for its food, which is of a very high standard and on a par to a 5star Swiss hotel that we stayed in last year. We went B and B as this was the only option offered through our tour operator, but opted to eat in most nights as the resort is so expensive to eat in and the hotel was such good value, and had an interesting menu, including Italian theme nights and fondue. This summer there is also a free travel pass included at this hotel which allows access to all cable cars and buses in the valley, which really saves money and allows for changes of plan when the clouds come down. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to families and couples who like a bit of adventure in a quiet area of the Alps.
