“A good choice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2011

We have just returned from a week in Saas Fee staying at the Chalet Hotel Ambassador. We were given a warm welcome. Two members of staff, the manager Ruth and the Assistant Manager Jordan, were at The Sapinere in Chamonix last year when we stayed there so it was good to see familiar faces.

We had really good weather for the most part, though a bit of a blip in the middle. However, we thoroughly enjoyed staying in such a lovely village with jaw-dropping mountain views. The

Chalet Hotel Ambassador, which is run by Ighams, represents good value with everything that they include in the package. The food is very good, the staff helpful, the rooms, though quite basic, have everything you need and we found the beds comfortable. Thanks to all the staff for making this a trip to remember.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony rather than a terrace.

Had a great time at the Ambassador and agrre with all previous positive comments. Again the hotel is looking in need of a lick of paint/ furniture/carpets etc but the hospitality of the staff and the excellent food on offer more than makes up for it. The rooms are clean and maintained every day.
Saas Fee is very pretty and we preferred it to Zermatt which we went to for the day.
Not sure if this resort is busier in the evenings during the ski season but is was very quiet while we where there but we were not to bothered but may not suit if nightlight is important but after a days walking and hearty food and drink a plenty in the hotel with friendly company was enough for us.
I would have no hesitation on recommending this hotel.

Room Tip: some of the 1st floor rooms have a terrace with some sun beds

I should start this review by saying that we got this package holiday on last minute . com and did not pay the full inghams price which was almost £700 pp. The hotel itself was a little tired looking but was clean and rooms were spacious, with a lovely balcony looking out on to the mountains. We had what was called a catered package which meant it included breakfast ( cereals, breads & jam,ham or cheese) with a different hot option each morning although you could have porridge or boiled egg every morning. Packed lunch (french bread with either ham, cheese or tuna, fresh fruit a drink and some crisps). Tea and coffee are in the lounge area for you to help yourself all day, but at around 4 cake, biscuits, bread and jams are bought out for you to help yourself. At 7 you came down to the bar for an aperitif and canapes. Then you were invited in to the restaurant for a choice of two starters, three main courses one being a vegetarian option and two desserts then tea or coffee with a cheese board. You had a choice of red, white or rose wine which was topped up throughout the meal ! (Monday nights the restaurant is closed so we went out to eat that night) The food the whole week we were there was excellent. We decided to go for this offer (we paid £444 pp for the week which included return transfers from Geneva and coach from Visp to Saas Fee and a half price Swiss railcard - which got us cheap fares on cable cars etc..) This holiday was excellent value, Switzerland is very expensive if we had not had a catered holiday we believe that it would have cost us more than the £444 we paid each to have ate out for the week. The staff were great and Saas fee was beautiful one of the few places you can ski all year round! If you are looking for a last minute deal check this one out ! and if you do go there is a trip on Thursdays only to Zermat this was great go up the cable car to see a close up of the Matterhorn one of the highest mountains in Europe.

Me, my wife and 3 children stayed at the ambassador at the end of July/early August. The hotel is in a great location everything is within a short walk. The rooms are a little dated but are a good size with everything you need. The staff are great nothing is to much trouble for them and they really made the holiday. The food was also superb with a good choice and portion size. The resort is also great with plenty to do but it is an expensive place so the catered chalet option was a real blessing. The scenery is breathtaking. We will definately return. A big Thank You to the Inghams staff.

Room Tip: the higher rooms have better views and private balcony avoid rooms with the terrace.

The Ambassador is run by Inghams as a Chalet Hotel. The week we were there the chefs changed over, but both were excellent. The food really exceeded our expectations. Our room was lovely, very spacious.

The Staff at the hotel were all really helpful, and the aperitif and canapes with the moving around in the dining room really helped you to get to know your fellow guests.

We had a great holiday and would recommend to anyone who loves the mountains.

went for a family holiday july 2011,
hotel has the lived in look but was very comfortable, large rooms, good views, great food.
the staff were amoung the best i have ever dealt with, as a chalet hotel dinner is set around 7.30pm which with a young child with us was a problem however thay offered and arranged for 5.30 dinner time for her, and were really helpful throughout.

This was one of the best holidays we have had and most of this was down to the wonderful staff at the Chalet Hotel Ambassador managed by Ruth. I dont think I have ever been to a friendlier place in all my years of holidays. Starting with Alex, Ruth and Jordan and all those wonderful girls who looked after us plus Stuart the Chef and his team (The food was 5 star) - they were a credit to Inghams. I would recommend this hotel to all my friends.
Thank you also to the great guests especially the 3 couples sharing our table and other couples we met at the early evening drinks and canapes and the all day tea and coffee.

Room Tip: Our room was on the 3rd floor and a corner balcony
