“Overpriced in cafe but lovely setting”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2012

We visited here by way of the horsedrawn wagon ride from Pontresina through the roseg valley which took over an hour in intense heat and had to watch the horses suffer the long trip. When we reached the top we stopped for a drink and snack in the cafe part of the hotel and found the service to be good, the food average but overpriced (two portions of chips, 1 large bottle coke, 1 bottle of water and a slice of cake came to nearly £28.00). If you are going to go take a picnic! lots of places to sit and picnic outside in this area

“Simply Fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

We had heard about the amazing dessert buffet at the Hotel Roseg Gletscher, but expected to be there before lunch time and so planned to skip the treat -- too early for dessert. Ha! We arrived and couldn't help ourselves. The quality and quantity of selections were impossible to pass up. My husband with the sweet-tooth had chocolate mousse with fresh berries and cream. I had an apple tart -- amazing. We then shared a fruit tart. Irresistable and not to be missed! We then forged on with a long hike up and over the Fuorcla Surlej enroute to Sils Maria. Thank goodness for the stop at the Roseg Gletscher.

“Excellent kitchen, amazing views...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2012

This review is about the restaurant (you enter to the left!), not the self-service restaurant which I never tested!

I don't remember how many times I have been to that place. It is one of my parents' favorite hangout, and - truth be told - we do know the couple who run the place.

The atmosphere in the restaurant is typical for the Engadine, high quality and pricey. The restaurant serves many different dishes of Italian and Swiss origin (given the proximity to Italy no surprise) and depending on the season specialties like venison or mushrooms etc.

They have a huge wine list that covers the big European regions.

The view from the restaurant is breath-taking and if you really want to make the most of your trip, take a walk further into the valley (in the summertime you can reach the glacier lake in about an 40 minutes time). And why not take a sleigh ride in the wintertime?

The staff are very professional and there is outdoor seating which is usually occupied even wintertime. Closed during bad weather.

Comment on previous reviewer re toilets: I've been there literally dozens of times and I've never had problems with dirty toilets or suffered from smells. Must be an exception. They have their own water reclamation system and there are many horses for the carriages/sleighs, so the smell could've come from somewhere else.

“Fantastic position”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2011

You can be there by walking or using a very bad transport offered by Costa transporter, a gang of uneducated and very bad Swiss mountain people.
Pay attention with them to clarify very well the picking time and the price otherwise over the bad service and treatment, they will charge twice.Nice restaurant atmosphere, with good selection of food, a la carte or self service.
LOW QUALITY AND SWISS COOKING. Really better if you take just the dessert as are the unique food they are able to prepare.
Very nice view of the glacier.

“Best desert buffet in Engadin”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2010

First time we hiked up there and the dessert buffet made it all worthwhile. I had the best berry cheesecake ever. Staff was very friendly. The view to the glacier is magnificent. It was so good that we went back there again on the last day of the stay (this time with a horse carriage). Highly recommended experience.
