For years we've been going to the Café de l’Union because we like the place: Good food. Good wine. Good service. Good price. The place is popular and always packed. Lunch and dinner. The only hick: There are way too many tables. You sit on each other’s arm-rest, are constantly on the move to let staff (and clients) pass, and having a conversation without the neighbor participating is impossible. So the other evening when the restaurant couldn’t accommodate us because is was fully booked, I called the La Versoix further up the street… and got a huge surprise: This is the place to be! The food is better. The wine is better. The service is better. The price is better. And you don’t sit on each other’s lap. We were a table of four, had filets de perches from the Léman (perfectly cooked and generously served) and tartare de boeuf à l'Italienne (simply out of this world) with a great bottle of Chasselas - Château de Crans at a ridiculously low price. FABOULOUS! Thank you Anne-Claude Margot and Stephane Guitton (and staff) for not being fully booked. You are the real deal in Crans-près-Céligny. All you other folks take note!
