We arrived on Father's Day (May 25, and it's a holiday taken seriously!) and most everything was closed except a few cafes in town. The hotel is on a hill next to the Kauzenburg castle and is a 15 minute downhill walk to Bad Kreuznach. It's an uphill climb from town to the hotel...you need to be in fairly good condition! Friendly, helpful staff answered all our questions and most spoke English. A terrific buffet breakfast. Fast, free Internet a plus. Bar/lounge in the hotel. No laundry facilities, and no laundromat in town. Hairdryer provided, and an iron/ironing board from housekeeping. Very clean, lovely grounds, vineyards, great view of the town.
Don't miss the feast in the castle on Fri/Sat night! Very entertaining, although mostly all in German. Strolling minstrel, MC that juggles/tells jokes, etc. Great food! Takes 3 1/2 hours start to finish. Wine and beer flow freely!
Nice restaurants, cafes, bistos in town. Seems to be a spa getaway for Germans, but not a big tourist town. Close to Bingen (18 K), and the Rhine River cruises.
Quick 5 minute taxi ride to the train station.
