“Fascinating - great for children - space shuttle!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

I budgeted two hours for the Technik museum and we stayed most of the day. My son and daughter did not want to leave. There was so much to see, climb on, touch, simulate, slide down (multi-story slides) and play on that my head was spinning. Literally. But only on the Luftansa jet which is titled at a weird angle and inspires profound nausea. If you are a motor head of any kind, you will find cars, trucks, planes, tractors and submarines of all periods to gawk over. Even a Russian space shuttle! If you have kids, bring 1€ coins for the rides just outside the complex in the playground. It was all well worth it. Awe inspiring.

Amazing museum. Something for all tastes - boats, cars, buses, planes - even a submarine !!! There is also an historical house there done out in different historical styles. Absolutely amazing and worth spending time there.

“Incredible Museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2012

The Technik Museum, outside Speyer, a short drive from Heidelberg, is like no other museum you have ever seen. It is both an open air display as well as three buildings worth of indoor exhibits and an IMAX. It has aircraft of all kinds, and many can be entered and walked around in. One is a 747, mounted 30 feet off the ground, which because of the slanted display of the craft makes walking inside like being is a funhouse where vertigo rules. It has a U-Boat, which can also be entered. A Russian Antonov. Spacecraft. Cars, Satellites. vintage automobiles, motorbikes, trains, fire engines, The list goes on.

But a warning is necessary. You cannot see the museum in just a few hours. At the least you'll need a day to get through all the exhibits and all the buildings. This is one museum where you will not lack for sights to see. If this museum leaves you wanting more there is another one, even bigger, in Sinsheim,.

“If you are even a little interested in man-made machines”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2012

Technik Museum in Speyer left a very positive impression on us mainly because it shared such a freedom to get to know to the exhibition. You could enter all the main attractions, many airplanes, the space shuttle and the U9, etc. There was never personel to tell you what not to do, it was mutual trust and in change you got the freedom to go as you liked. Even if was all well-organized, there was some kind of anarchy in the exhibition: in one hall you could have a train next to old cars next to a mechanical intruments and some crazy DIY machines, motorbikes next to a space food, etc. I loved it! Also the miniature trains - put a coin in and you get some fun for few minutes.

3-4 hours should rather good time to space for this. Otherwise you'd have to run :-)

Good parking lot (cost a few euros), efficient restaurant if hungry.

We had a chance to visit the sister-museum in Sinsheim, but skipped that thinking it'd be too much.
