“Good rooms, but poor service at the reception!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2013

At departure we were not very pleased to hear that the special internet offer we used to stay two nights in the hotel included breakfast. In the offer it wasn't mentioned. Neither it was at arrival.....Thank you very much!
When we ordered a taxi at the reception, we were also very surprised that it was not possible to call us in our room on arrival, but we had to come downstairs to wait for the taxi...
Very amateuristic reception staff! Not to be recommended!

I stayed here when Münster was full during a conference. The train station is 4 minutes walk. And the bigger cities are 26 minutes away by train. Good out of the way location.

Breakfast was very good. Nice and fresh. Room was enormous. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

My only gripe is I couldn't get wifi in my room because of poor signal coverage. Nevertheless I will give them 4/5 because it really is a nice hotel, and a 3/5 might scare off people. Definitely worth a visit.

We only stayed for one night whilst travelling through Germany. Check in was smooth with no problems. Parking was in a secure car park under the hotel. It cost €7.50 per night, which was quite reasonable. The room was adequate with good free wifi connection, a free safe and a comfortable bed. We didn't have dinner in the hotel as we wanted to look around the town and visit my old British forces school in Soester Strasse. There didn't seem to be much going on in the town so we eventually dined at the Alte Mark near by old school.
My impression of the hotel was that they mainly catered for the business trade as besides people like us who were passing through, the town didn't really offer much. The hotel is in the centre of Hamm and whilst we were staying there was quite a lot of devlopment taking place.
The breakfast was very nice and set us up for the day. There was plenty of hot and cold choices.
In conclusion, we enjoyed our stay but wouldn't rush back - not so much because of the hotel but more to do with the town itself.

The hotel is conveniently situated just a couple of minutes wal;k from the train station. From the moment I walked in the staff were very helpful and friendly. My room was excellent. Everything I needed was provided, it was cleaned daily and there was plenty of space. I also had free wifi in my room. Breakfast was included in the price and there was plenty of variety, from traditional meats and cheeses to breakfast cereals and fried bacon with scrambled eggs. In the evening there is a pleasant bar to sit in but it is expensive and there are plenty of other bars and restaurants in the vicinity that are a better option. Hamm itself is quite modern although there are still older buildings such as the railway station and the nearby church. Overall a great experience over the four nights I was there and highly recommended.

We stopped here on our way from Sweden to France and it was a welcome break in a 24 hour journey. The hotel is a few kilometers away from the motorway but worth the detour. Our room was very large and the beds too good to be true. We thoroughly enjoyed the bar and ordered food available in the restaurant and ate in private and comfort by the bar. I would stay here again without hesitation.

From time to time I am in the "Sauerland" area on business trips. The hotel where I usually stay was booked so I was looking for an alternative in the area, thats how I ended up at Mercure Hamm.

The Hotel itself is located not far from the main train station, in the city center at a main intersection and across an area sort of a pedestrian zone. Underneath is a public garage for 7 euros per night with direct access to the hotel.

The rooms are quite big, the sleeping section renovated and equipped with modern furniture, the bathrooms however are still old style with towels used up.

Breakfast is Mercure style, quality was good, choice ok, the lady serving was friendly and even offering coffee specialities.

TIP: I was walking around in the city a bit in order to find a restaurant, I finally ended up in a steak house called Hacienda, the food was good, service as well, the ambiance is okay.

By the way: I cannot tell one reason why to stay in Hamm, the city is not a beauty, very boring, run down and far from interesting to see.

All in all the room, breakfast, service at reception would get a good to very good, the bathroom, the location and everything around would get poor to average. Considering that the review is for hotel and not the city I would certainly go back as hotel alternatives are very limited and certainly its not getting any better in Hamm.
