“After many stays over many years the Hotel Überfahrt has lost its shine”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013

For a 5 star hotel and this price class I was on this occassion quite disappointed.
Why? Here are the reasons:
1) An attendant opened my door to deliver a complementary bottle of water without announcing her presence. I was not naked but close to it. I was surprised and then annoyed;
2) The motorized curtains did not work. I repeatedly notified the front desk IN PERSON beginning at 19:00, As it ended up, I went to bed at 11:30 PM after undressing in the dark to avoid giving my neighbors a strip show;
3) I had to request a second invoice since the original I received at checkout was missing a header of any kind and my name and address wrong (not suitable to claim as a business expense in Germany); but,
4) To be fair, the hotel manager compensated me with a reduction of the price for that night - a skimpy €20! I estimate that they did not take my annoyance and frustration seriously.
I would recommend going elsewhere.
There are a lot of welcoming friendly hotels within a stone's throw.

Room Tip: If you are luck you will enjoy. If anything goes amiss, do not expect the hotel to sort out there de...

I was shocked when we arrived at this hotel. It is totally our of style and out of proportion with its surroundings! It is located just next to the old village of Rottach, and yet the hotel appears bigger than the rest of the village combined. In terms of it's architecture, it has all the charm of an airport conference hotel. It makes no attempt to blend in with its environment in any way.

It got worse worse when we entered the lobby: a strange, out-of-place mix of brass fixtures and tacky marble floors. The rooms are completely non-descript - the furniture looks like it's from a badly aged Marriott hotel. Our room had a fairly low ceiling and was thus rather dark. This is supposed to be a five star hotel?

The bathroom was large, but the red brownish marble and golden faucets were utterly gaudy. Despite the unappealing furniture and the low ceilings, the room and bathroom were both clean.

We nonetheless found two redeeming qualities: the food in the restaurant was delicious and the service there was very professional. And the basement pool is surprisingly spacious and very clean.

But altogether, the hotel is completely void of any sort of charm, much less an Alpine charm.

And throughout our time there I couldn't get over a simple fact: the hotel has a great location on the lake, but through its sheer over-dimensioned, out-of-place presence there, it manages to substantially diminish its location and surroundings.

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbished room - in case they have any already. If they don't, then I am sure they w...

What a great hotel in an absolutely beautiful setting. The rooms are large and well equipped: large flatscreen, DVD player, wireless,... Large bathroom with a large bath and separate shower.
Friendly and professional staff. Great food in their restaurants and during meetings.
Perfect place for a business retreat or a couples retreat.

Room Tip: All great rooms some have lake views. I had a wonderful large terrace with seats to enjoy the sun an...

Nice big clean rooms. The lobby is great and they have a free Champagne hour in the evenings that is a nice perk. I have kids but I really liked the sign that noisy children should go to the basement. A walk around the lake is brisk and the air is refreshing with the smell of evergreens.
