after a day travelling on all I can say were bad german roads it was a pleasure to find a friendly hotel that had great character and a warm feel. The view from the window was great although the mountains did have a lot of cloud lurking. After a quick walk we settle down to a fantastic meal. Roast goat (kid) from the local mountains and locally caught trout, try the green garlic soup it is great, the service was first class.

Its a place we would go back to when we get round the visiting the area again.

We had a great stay at this charming country hotel in the Alps. Wonderful caring hosts and staff always there of help and very friendly. The rooms are so comfortable and stylish with warm atmosphere. The restaurant offers finest foods, nice beers, good wines and cocktails. Again they make you feel home and care about you. Daily gourmet breakfast in the garden was outstanding! Marcus and Anje always gave very good tips on what to do in the area which offers so many possibilities of sports, leisure and activities. We specially liked the grand piano in the hotel bar. Thank you all Wittelsbach we will be back!

You will be hard pushed to find a hotel as good as this or with such nice people to take care of you. We spent Christmas in this beautiful, clean, efficient and well run hotel where nothing was too much trouble for Anje and Marcus. We were made to feel special from the moment we arrived until we left. The staff are unobtrusive but there just when you need them, always good humoured and friendly. Chrismas day (Christmas Eve for them), was beautiful. Carol singing with the staff and guests with Marcus playing piano accompanied by his delightful children on flute and violin. This was a really special day which reminded me of Christmas childhoods in the UK before it all became oh so commercial and not a single tacky blow up santa or snowman in sight. Every day we enjoyed great food, great fun and great company. Easy to see why so many of the guests had been there so many times before. Ruhpolding is not a big town but the facilites are superb and all within easy access on foot. Swimming in a heated outdoor pool at night, in minus 7 weather with snow piled up around the pool was a great experience. Skiing, sledging and horse drawn sleighrides all added to the atmosphere of old fashioned Christmas's past. A delightful and spotless town with friendly people, no litter and no yobs. This hotel and its owners are and rare and wonderful find. It will be very difficult to top this experience
