This restaurant is a nice surprise in Freising where we stayed because it's close to the Munich airport. The Weihenstephaner is located in a 500 year-old building, on top of a hill by the famous Dom cathedral and museum. The food and service are superb. We had traditional Bavarian food, and being of German roots, we found it excellent. On nice days, the outside eating area provides lovely views over the old town of Freising, with an outdoor grill. The interior is warm and cozy, "gemuetlich" in German. The bar is extensive and serves cocktails, wines and beers, including beer from the nearby Weihenstephan brewery. It's definitely worth a walk up the hill from Freising's old downtown.
