“Best Location and German Historical”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2010

Last week, I stayed in Hotel Krone, Tubingen city. I really like the location i.e. near very nice flowing river, lots of historical buildings i.e. castle etc. good variety of foods i.e. italian etc make it best place to live. Also, the interiors are resembling to German historical things. I recommed other to have this experience.

What a disgrace ! Price/quality ratio: a disaster. Room : small and rubbish. Bathroom: not properly cleaned. Food :lower than average for breakfast. (i.e. Orange Juice from discount shops, dog under the table..)On top of that : staff is rude and clearly unprofessional : we seemed to disturb their quietness only by having booked there. Had a little chat with the manager depicting all issues : no coherent response but condescending & hostile behaviour. Two chinese persons were also complaining. We cannot blame them. A pity as it is a real chance for Management to improve. The apprentice lady at the reception desk did her best but was overwhelmed. As a practical case, should be taught to Hotel Management Schools. Never again!

We were very pleased to have selected this hotel in Tubingen. The location is excellent right in the heart of town and on the edge of the old ctiy, literally metres. With its own off street parking garage the attraction was immediate. The room was very pleasant although the lift leaves you taking your luggage up a few steps so take care. The decor is really nice with pleasant lounge areas. I used the lobby internet service which was reliable and usually available when I wanted it. Breakfast was not lavish but adequate and the service by all of the staff was great and very helpful.

We had a beautiful suite during our stay in Tubingen. The one problem was that the air-conditioner in our bedroom didn't work properly, but the AC in our daughter's room was fine. The rooms were spacious and the beds comfortable. The location was PERFECT for easy walks into the historic center of Tubingen, for sightseeing, and for dinner choices. The breakfast was very good.

The rating just misses out on terrible. The hotel is centrally located and is on a busy street. There is a small onsite carpark. It is bad luck if this is full because the next nearest parking is in a parking station 100 metres away.
The room #60 is large with a separate sitting area. The decore is very old fashioned but not as ugly as the brown 70's bathroom with terry towelling curtains. The bed was okay but the pillows flat guaranteeing headaches for the next morning. The double curtains were good and heavy. The soundproofed windows did little to keep out the regular traffic noise. Much to our discomfort we discovered that a loud protest march passed slowly by that evening given that the next day was May Day.
The breakfast spread is written up on the hotel website as opulent. All we can say was that it was a disgrace and the staff should be sacked. The receptionist did her best to cover for her colleagues 45 minute absence and further frustrated us by spending the next 40 minutes bringing out the breakfast buffet. Needless to say what little of breakfast we had time to enjoy was overshadowed by sloppy efforts of the staff.
As other reviewers have stated this hotel should not be four stars and is very expensive for what you get.

we pulled into the town of Tubingen during a 5 week trip through Europe with our 3 and 5 yr old. This was probably the cheapest hotel we stayed in the whole trip and probably one of our nicest rooms. We had the suite and thought it was a great little spot. The village is lively and we did a day trip to an aquatic park one day and Legoland another day.Great for a family.Highly recomended

The Hotel Krone is a decent place to stay. Its location is the real attraction. You are 5 minutes from old town tubingen. The river is literally 1 min walking distance. You will have access to all resaurants, bars, and shops in old town. I have read reviews where they say it has no A/C. I was there this fall (2007) so there was no need for me to use A/C. However there is a sign on the widow that says "Please keep windows closed. This room is Air Conditioned." They have also added wireless internet to the hotel but it is not free with the room. The internet is 6.99 Euros per day. I had no problem with service. The hotel staff was extremely quick to respond to any of my needs. I got room service meals within 10 minutes of ordering. There are 2 restaurants connected to the hotel. One is in the hotel and is more of a high class resaurants(and expensive). It has a small menu and serves things like duck.. etc. However the other resaurant/bar has a very relaxed fealing and has a wide variety of food at a decent price. I personally would recomend this hotel to anyone that wants a relaxed visit to Tubingen.
