Gasthof Blauer Bock rents only four simple rooms, and is on the "wrong" side of the Kocher River from the heart of town - I chose it because it was handy to the train station. My room was very compact, and up two flights of narrow stairs, but was clean and quiet and very reasonably priced; and the restaurant was outstanding - perhaps the best meal I had in two weeks of touring Germany. In fact, I suspect that the rooms serve mainly as a loss-leader for the restaurant - as in many provincial French towns where first-class restaurants sometimes coexist with very simple hotel rooms. In short, there may be better hotels in Hall (although they they charge at least $30. more per night), but I doubt that there is a better restaurant - so I'm glad I chose this place.
