Ganz nach unserem Motto:,,Gepflegte und bodenstandige Gastlichkeit mit Niveau"The history of the restaurant and restaurant brewery "zum Ritter"at Schlossplatz 1 in Schwetzingen dates all the way back to 1831.Its unique location, directly opposite the entrance to Schwetzingen Castle, with its Rococo theatre and Germany's most beautiful Baroque castle gardens, the "Ritter" enjoyed fame beyond the boundaries of Schwetzingen even back then.In 1997 the "Schwetzinger Brauhaus zum Ritter" was founded, with the declared aim of continuing this ancient brewing tradition. This was preceded by the purchase of the historic building, which, after rebuilding and renovation that was subject to the strict requirements governing historic buildings, was reopened on the 14th of July 1998.A new addition was a complete brewery, which has since then enabled us to offer our guests home-brewed, naturally unfiltered beers fresh from the cellar at all times. This is no industrially or mass produced beer, but is a beer with a distinctive taste that is brewed in full view of our guests, manually and traditionally according to old monastery recipes passed down through the centuries and in strict accordance with the "Reinheitsgebot", the German beer purity law, which dates back to 1516, accompanied by top quality regional, seasonal and international cuisine, true to our slogan:"Sophisticated and down-to-earth hospitality with class".

Tomato soup was not good. Bread was stale and pretzels were stale. For Germany that is not a good sign. Inside atmosphere was nice and outside seating is available, right across from the Schloss. Wouldn't go again unless maybe to just get drinks and sit outside on a nice day.

“Fair enough”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013 via mobile

Business dinner of a winter snowing night in this brewery/restaurant. Good choice of different beers, mainly meat main dishes, all timely served. Food was just good and the asked medium cooked filet was almost a rear cooked one. Price fair. Good choice for winter during the week considering the "quote" town.

“Good solid German food and fantastic beer”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012

Having arrived late in Schwetzingen after a long drive, we were hunting for a good German "schnitzel and pommes" meal. We were not dissapointed when we found the Brauhaus in the Schlossplatz, they even produce their own beer!!! A nice restaurant in a very nice square. The meal was nice, everything you wish from a German-style restaurant and the staff was really friendly.
