“Great place to get away”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2010

We read the reviews recommending that we stay in the main building, and the reviews that stated the place needed updating. We stayed in the main building in what is probably called a suite or junior suite, room 50, and the place was great. Sure it was not a modern palace, but we are pretty picky and had no complaints whatsoever. The room and the main bbuilding overall were great in an old world kind of way, very tasteful and comfortable--elegant even. The restaurants and cafe were outstanding. The spa and pool are very modern. And the grounds and the town were the perfect retreat after several days in Berlin and Munich. They gave us a free train ticket to Tittisee, where we bought cuckoo clocks and did some additional sightseeing. We stayed on a special rate that I guestimate was around 300 Euros a night.

My girlfriend and I escaped to ParkAdler Hotel for a romantic winter getaway. Luckily for us, it was mostly snowing that weekend which made it even more romantic. Upon arrival, we were greeted with such friendly staff. The room was superb with antique furniture overlooking the mountains. The spa was amazing particularly the outdoors jacuzzi (made even more so with it snowing). The dinner at the restaurant was fantastic and the breakfast the next morning, to die for. a HUGE selection of food with a cook on hand to make your egg/pancake breakfast on site. We didn't get a chance to take a stroll into Hinterzaten because of the beautiful time spent at the hotel but while walking to the train station we saw what the town has to offer and it isn't too shabby!

We booked a suite and we got a very old room in the other building. The director told us it was the old one!! Yes we saw how ugly was the room he offered us! We chose another room in the main building but they charged more than 150 euros in our bill even we book a suite for a cheaper price.
At the restaurant wiener schnitzel was impossible to eat! At the end very unfriendly and arrogant. A place to avoid! There are so many other small hotel in the area. Stay far!!

This is a lovely retreat in the black forest resort town of Hinterzarten. The service was very friendly and relaxed. The food in the restaurant was nice and the room very spacious - although it felt like some of its appointments could be more modern such as the bed or the television. The hotel itself is simply beautiful with a lot of charm - it is clearly very historical but very well kept, with an amazing park, pool and saune facilities. The rooms are quiet apart from the occasional bell tolls from the nearby church, and the location is on the outskirts of Hinterzarten with the black forest just outside - where a walk towards the beautiful Titisee lake is highly recommended. A lovely hotel overall

We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed the hotel very much. The service, spa, pool and dining was wonderful. We also attended a wedding there and the service was first class. The hotel is located on the depths of the Black Forest and not far from the beautiful city of Freiburg.

Staying at one of the Leading Hotels of the World does raise expectations, but unfortunately this one is not up to standard of it's class. The rooms look simply run-down, as if they've never been updated or refurbished since the 80's. They feature very poor security with extremely simple room keys that you would typically be used within your private house on a general interior door to your bedroom. The beds have very soft outworn mattresses and after complaining about this, it has been resolved with a full length wooden plank under the mattress which made us feel like sleeping on a door.
The hotel does not look traditional as it claims, but simply outdated in great need of a major refurbishment. We felt more like staying in a dusty guestroom of a far related family than in a world class hotel. There are also no modern room amenities like internet access etc.
The restaurant however had an authentic feel with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Also all other staff across all areas seemed very friendly and professional.
Definitely not a Leading Hotel and certainly not worth the price-tag they are charging.

We bought a new mercedes in Stuttgart and this hotel was one of the choices we had as part of our European Delivery Program. It is set in beautiful surroundings and the hotel itself was fantastic. Staff were eager to please and everything about it was impeccable. We only had the breakfast before we set off, and that was a terrific meal. I will definitely return one day.
