Stayed at Best Western Ambassador for some time in April. The hotel is located next to the beach (just beware it takes about 15 minutes to reach the water via a wooden bridge as the beach is about 2km wide). It also offers a terrace restaurant.
Got a room with sea view on the 4th floor. Nice furniture but you could estimate the age of it. Most probably from the time when the hotel opened at the end of the 1970s. The room was big enough with a large double bed, two chairs, table etc. The bathroom was big with a more modern fitting. The cleaning was quick and efficient, being done by very friendly staff.
The problem with the room was ongoing construction work between the hotel and the beach, starting at 7am and ending at about 5pm. Excavators and trucks at work all day long made the closing of the window and the balcony's door neccessary if you wanted some sleep. This is likely to continue for some time.
Unfortunately, despite being aware of this disturbance, the sea side surcharge appeared on most of the guest's check-out bills and they had to negotiate with staff at the reception to get it cancelled.
Service in the restaurant was very good. Friendly young people are serving the guests bearing a smile despite working long hours. Food overall was of good quality; on most days you could choose between eating a-la-carte or dinner buffet. After having dinner buffet several times it got boring as you could only choose between two main dishes (mostly lamb/pork/beef and fish). There was one kind of soup and the salads were always the same; light variations for dessert. This could definitely be improved.
A nice stay but considering the Ambassador being one of the most expensive Best Western hotels in Germany, certain areas need some improvement.
