“Wonderful stay at Weinhaus Weiler”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2012

Weinhaus Weiler and Oberwesel was the first stop in our week-long trip with my husband and my father this past September. Our room was wonderful, especially the crazy (but awesome) shower with disco lighting and music! We dined at the restaurant our first night and the food and the wine were delicious. Any time I had a question or needed some travel advice, Frau Weiler was there to offer helpful advice. We felt extremely welcome here and had a fabulous stay.

We stayed here with my sister and my mother-in-law, so I got to see three of their lovely rooms. They were all very clean and comfortable.

The breakfast was perfect. Lots of delicious carb-filled goodies, but also several protein options.

The wine festival had just ended before we arrived, and it takes place right outside of the guesthouse. If you're going to Oberwessel for the wine festival, this would be very convenient. If you're not super social, and you're not into staying up late, it might not be the best time to stay there. I think the noise would only not be bothersome if you were taking part in it, and that's just a scene that isn't for everyone.

We hope to see you again in Oberwesel - perhaps outside the dates of the historic wine festival. However, please feel free to visit us again. You are always welcome at our Hotel and Restaurant and we would love to see you again.

Weinhaus Weiler is very old but very well restored . The proprietor made us very welcome and was really helpful. Our room was very large with a view of the city walls and the Rhine. It was comfortable and very clean . The restaurant is excellent. I feel that the hotel gives real value for money.

We did not stay in this hotel but dined in the restaurant on the Markplatz in Oberwesel along the Rhine River. The hotel itself is part of the World Heritage Site, and was built within the original half-timbered house dating from 1552. We dined at the hotel restaurant on two of our three evenings in Oberwesel. The large dining area is decorated in warm colors and the tables, covered with white tablecloths, are far enough apart to enjoy separate conversations. The service was gracious and the proprietress, Trudel Weiler, came to our table to welcome us and help us with the menu choices. We had a light meal of soup and salad the first evening and a more typical German meal of schnitzel and noodles on the second evening. All was prepared beautifully using the freshest of ingredients, and we found the preparation and presentation to our tastes....without being too rich or heavy. We tried a local beer suggested to us that was perfect with the meals. Trudel also shared brochures and maps about the town with suggestions for visits, including an open house at a local winery(Weingut Lanius-Knab) to be held the next day, which we attended and enjoyed, including tastings, a tour of the underground caves, and hors d'oeuvres. A very enjoyable dining experience!

For anyone visiting the middle Rhine, the Weihaus Weiler, in charming Oberwesel, is a must do stay. The propriters, Klaus and Trudel Weiler, are fabulous.
We stayed in the Tower Suite, which is about a 5-10 minute walk from the main hotel and their truly outstanding restaurant
The tower was the best accommodation we experienced in our entire trip. It occupies the top 3 floors of the former city gate dating from the 1300's. The first floor is a living and dining area. The second is a large bedroom and bath, The top floor is a turret overlooking the Rhine.
There are 45 inside steps leading to the Tower Suite entrance and another 20 or so to the top of the turret, This choice of a room is certainly not for anyone with walking problems or travelling with a lot of luggage but the rooms in the main inn and restaurant are also delightful, with views over the Rhine.
When we arrived Klaus drove us to the building and took all of our luggage to the room so that was not a problem for us.
The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating (weather permitting) and the food was absolutely superb and reasonably priced. You will not be disappointed in any way.
Klaus and his wife Trudel are also outstanding in every possible respect; both are most accomodating and wecoming to all guests and restaurant patrons. Staying in Oberwesel and Weinhaus Weiler is a special experience.

Room Tip: There is one room in the main in that has a large outdoor bacony overlooking the Rhine.

We stayed here from 3 August to 5 August after a long flight from Australia and train from Frankfurt Airport. We had no idea where to stay but chose Oberwesel after reading TA. Trudel made us feel like old friends when we arrived and helped us immensely. Our room was on the first floor, very large and very clean. It had great character. We kept our windows open and the trains did not bother us as we were exhausted. The next night we also kept windows open but used earplugs and didn't hear them and I am a light sleeper. We had dinner in the restaurant and could not fault the quality. A great place to stay, eat and base for travel to other towns along the Rhine. We would stay at Weinhaus Weiler again.

We decided to stop for a light supper at this very inviting looking establishment, and we were not disappointed. Service was excellent, the food was locally sourced, deliciously prepared and beautifully presented. The hotel is located in the center of a medieval town in the Rhine Valley, and the premises(we saw the dining room only) are very nicely updated . We can only recommend this place. The staff makes it very welcoming, and it leaves nothing to be desired!

Room Tip: We saw the restaurant only, but as the hotel is close to a railroad line, guests would be well advis...
