Description: Welcome to the Toby Carvery Buckhurst Hill. When it comes to roast dinners, we really know our stuff. Every day our chefs lay on a feast of tender, hand-carved meats with all the trimmings – including towering Yorkshire puds, golden roasties with all those lovely little crunchy bits, and plenty of freshly prepared veg, all crowned with proper gravy. So it's no wonder we're Buckhurst Hill’s favourite carvery restaurant. Drop by and you'll find lots more on offer, including cooked breakfasts and tasty specials.

“Made Mum and Dad's 70th wedding anniversary”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2013

We have visited this Toby previously for family gatherings. My mother and father in law really enjoy this restaurant, and picked it for their 70th wedding anniversary lunch. There were over 30 of us,from various parts of the UK, including babies, and the staff kept a section of the restaurant especially for us. Everyone enjoyed their meal, and the opportunity to catch up. It can't have been easy for the staff to bring coffees and desserts when everyone was milling around chatting, but the staff were very friendly.

“Great value...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2013 via mobile

I have been to a few of the Toby carverys in the area but always come back to buckhurst hill, foods always good and staff are friendly and helpfull. It can get busy at certain times but that's because everyone knows what great value it is. Some of the rubbish people write in these revues makes me laugh like they are have just been to a £50 a head restaurant and not got good service.... It's a carvery, good food at a great price just enjoy.

“Always a Treat to Eat Here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013

The Toby chain are really excellent value. The Carvery with its eat as much as you like extras is very popular. Sign up for their emails and you will get frequent vouchers for a free Ice cream desert which is a whopper size.
Lots of free parking and open for light bites as well

“Better than it looked from outside”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013 via mobile

Stopped in the hotel next door and was a bit put off by the outside. The car park looked tatty as did the building itself and the smell from the bins was overpowering, with little alternatives, I was more than a little apprehensive.

However, on entry, things started to look up and the place looked more appealing. I was greeted well and shown to a table then moved to a table that wasn't already taken. Genuine mistake.
I ordered a pint of London Pride which was well kept and decent value at £2.85
I started with a prawn cocktail which was really fresh & crispy salad. £3.29
The carvery came next and I opted for the large carvery which came with an extra Yorkshire pudding, extra meat and chip oblate sausages. Thankfully, I arrived just as they took away the dried out Turkey crown and replaced it with a fresh one. This along with the beef was excellent although if this was a large portion, the amount of meat in a normal one must be small.
The Yorkers were huge and crispy, the chip oblates sadly we're dried up, small and pretty tasteless.
The vegetables varied considerably, the carrots were dry and had little flavour, the leeks were bland and the stuffing tasted cheap. The mash was ok as was the cauliflower which had a tiny amount of cheese sauce. There were no roasties and so I waited until they arrived. The chef apologised for my wait which wasn't that long to be fair. There were also onions in gravy and garden peas.
It was only when I sat down that I realised there must have been a condiment bar somewhere but I had not seen it and it was now too late. Some mustard or cranberry sauce would have helped with the flavours I guess.
The carvery was £6.29 as they forgot to charge me for the "upgrade"

All in all, it was OK, the staff were fine and friendly and the prices OK. A bit of signage to the condiments and a refurb outside and this place could be great. I'd visit again but only if staying next door and had little other option.
