I did not stay at this hotel while in Friedrichshafen, however I did try and use my Best Western Travel Card to pay for a meal.
I was told by the receptionist that because my card was designated in U.S. dollars I could not use it in the hotel. This is not the case. I have since complained to the hotel on returning home only to receive a "we didn't know apology". The only problem with this excuse is that it is too late for me. I would also say that the lady in question didn't even bother to find out from anyone else in the hotel if my card could be used or not. I also complained to the Best Western customer relations people in their head office only to be told that I needed my meal receipt to pursue the matter or there was nothing they could do.

We stayed at this hotel for just one night on our way to visit friends in Switzerland. It is a lovely hotel, very clean and the staff were so friendly and helpful. We checked in to the hotel around 10.30pm due to our late flight arrival and the man at reception was very helpful. We had taken a taxi from the airport, it cost 11euros and took about 5 mins. Our room was across the street it didn't face on to the Lake but since we were staying for one night that was fine. The room was very clean and spacious with a sitting area. It also had a mini bar. We found a bar at the Rathaus just around the corner from the hotel and the waitress was very helpful and directed us to a great wee steakhouse "Tiffanys". Everyone we met spoke very good english which was very good because unfortunately neither of us could speak German, despite trying to make an effort.
In the morning we had a lovely breakfast in the hotel. There is plenty of choice for breakfast and again the staff were friendly and helpful.Friedrichshafen is a lovely town and the hotel is in the centre of the town. We spent the morning walking around and shopping. There are nice wee shops and a Zeppelin museum. The prices in the town were very reasonable. We had coffee and apple strudel and it cost only 6 eur for two. I would definately stay at this hotel again and would recommend a visit to Freidrichshafen.

We were staying about 20kms away from Friedricshafen but we needed to have one night in town before catching a train to Geneva the next morning. I had spied this hotel on my visit earlier in the week and loved the exterior colour, the beautiful window boxes, cafe tables and umbrellas. It appealed to me straight away and all the more so because it was very centrally located on the main shopping street which is one back from the waterfront.
The staff were very plesant, the rooms large and airy with a good sized bathroom. Wireless internet was available in a common area on the first floor. The staircases to each floor spiralled up and were very narrow. Our luggage only just made it around the corners. Our room overlooked the street below and the restaurant tables. We had two large fully openable windows, this was great to watch the world pass by down below.
There was an excellent selection of pastries, bread, fruit, cereal, juices, eggs and meats for breakfast.
Located 5 minutes from the rail station, 2 minutes from the port and right in the heart of the waterfront cafe's and restaurants this hotel would be an ideal base.

Booked and stayed for only one night here, thank goodness. Despite helpful staff who drew maps for us, parking was very complicated. The hotel is surrounded by extensive pedestrian only streets (with restaurant tables blocking them) and there are ongoing harbour building works resulting in the hotel frontage being blocked off (and noise all through the day). The hotel car park has space for only six cars and is almost impossible to find - we finally found it but it was full so we had to park overnight in the public underground car park 500 metres away. Too far to walk with our luggage but we did so anyway to avoid trying to get the car through the pedestrian streets again. Very stressful. Our room was in the annexe (another hotel in fact) with a quite unsecure entry system -people could just walk in to the lobby with other guests (where the hotel unbelievably stored guest luggage for the day). Not very reassuring. When we got to the room we found the shutters to be out of order (needed at night to cut out the street noise from the bars) and the wallpaper peeling from the walls in various places. Also, sound insulation was poor as we could hear almost everything from at least three other rooms. Not a room to relax in!

Read previous reveiews and thought we'd give it a try. Rooms were large, and just a short walk to the Bodensee. Room was across the street from the main building but was a bit quieter than the main building. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent and lots of variety. Free internet usage (computer in main building). Reasonable priced too! Would certainly stay there again.
