Friendly and helpful staff as well as an excellent on site Mediterranean style restaurant. Our room had a den and kitchenette as well as the most comfortable bed ever. (We confess to pulling up the sheets to check out the brand of mattress.) Very nice indoor pool there also. We used our free plus card to enjoy a couple of local things that we might not have normally sought out, like the Hundle Slide. The walks to town or the next village down are short and pleasant. I would stay here again for certain! Don't count on much in the way of TV reception or choices if you're in to that - I'm not so wasn't bothered by that at all.

My wife had promised a trip to Germany in the winter knowing that I love mountain vistas and snow, I hadn't delved into Germany much or visited many parts of it so this trip we travelled from the north to the South and back by train. This resort is excellent but a little way below the main town so its a short walk up the footpaths or short taxi/bus ride. THe Italian restaurant is truly fantastic well priced and the largest pizzas I've ever seen, be warned most will struggle to eat a whole one they are bigger than the plate they come on, if you leave here Hungary I would be surprised. The restaurant is within the resort but not part of the hotel being run as a separate business.

We stayed with our 2 dogs for a fortnight in building 5, furthest from the resort centre but close to the footpaths. The apartment was booked through RCI and was a continental double bed (2 singles pushed together) with lounge and shower room and balcony off the bedroom. The 'kitchen' was smaller than in our caravan, with just 2 hobs, microwave and half sink. There was no draining board, if you wanted to prepare any vegetables the draining rack had to be cleared away first. The furnishings were worn and not the best for comfort, just wicker chairs to lounge and a settee. The apartment was for four people, but the balcony would be cramped as it's only got 2 chairs.
There were ample towels and although furnishings were old everything was clean and most utensils were brand new. We had two mornings without hot water but things were sorted within an hour.
The warm weather made the apartment very warm and we ended up buying a fan in town. The buildings are designed for winter use and certainly hold the heat in. I suggest that if traveling in summer by car bring a fan, the apartments can be stifling.
The views from the apartment were wonderful but noisy due to building work going on opposite. These went on seven days a week and started around 7 am and involved articulated lorries unloading when trying to relax in bed. I did complain to the resort manager who was unsympathetic and told me that RCI had been informed as had we. The problem was of course everything had been booked by then and we were unable to make other arrangements. It would have been far better if Mondi had informed RCI when they initially pencilled in the works so visitors could make a choice whether or not to book, but this would have resulted in fewer bookings and lost revenue no doubt.
I was offered another apartment, but with only a few days left it wasn't worth the effort. It begs the question why, if there were spare apartments, did Mondi not put us and others in those initially. The works is due to end in October. Stay clear of building 5 until then.
The manager was not willing to refund any of the fees and finally offered to knock off the £25 for the dogs.
Resort fees are very expensive, we paid around 300 euros for a fortnight. They do give the Oberstaufen Plus card that allows free rides on some cable cars, pool entry etc. but this is by far the most expensive resort we've used. They even charge 5 euros a day if you'd like shaded parking under roofs.
The staff were very friendly and some more helpful than others, making calls to vets etc.
We didn't eat in the pizzeria but did have breakfast once which was excellent, sitting on the sunny terrace. The resort offers a very reasonable bakery service that brings rolls, butter etc. to the apartment door every morning-great idea.
The area is great for hiking and swimming with Alp See offering warm lake swimming from a purpose built area and too many walks to mention around the area. We arrived in a heatwave and enjoyed many hours swimming and paddling in quiet rivers close to the resort.
We ate out in nearby Steibis and by the Imbergbahn cable car and had good solid German food at reasonable prices. Take the Hundlebahn cable car and enjoy raw milk at the farmhouse at the top-wonderful.
Strangely for an area that relies so much on tourism we found the locals very unfriendly, unlike the resort staff and other Germans we met from outside the area. I'm half German and despite speaking the language found waitresses, shop keepers etc. generally a serious unsmiling bunch. However, this is a beautiful part of the world with stunning scenery and so much to do that it's worth the 11 hour drive from Calais, go and see it for yourself.

What a beautiful hotel. Our room has a well furnished kitchen, a good sized double bed, plenty of towels and a balcony. The room was cleaned every day and the bed made up.The hotel pool was excellent and included in the price as was the gym, ski lifts (this was summer) and the list goes on. The staff were friendly and spoke good English. The surrounding area is magnificent with plenty of walks but the highlight for me was the cow bells.

Room Tip: Try and get a mountain view or ground floor room

We booked a 1 bedroom apartment through RCI and travelled by train from Munich airport.
It is only a 6 to 7 euro taxi ride from the station. Once you are there it is only a 15 min walk along a path to town. We had no need of a car.
Our apartment was very good for the 2 of us. It was not big, it was nicely decorated and maintained and it's kitchen was very small but we opted not to cook and to enjoy the local cuisine instead. They were renovating a whole accommodation block when we were there so shows they are interested in keeping the accommodation looking good.
Our holiday was a hiking one and it is an excellent area for that with many walks ranging from low level to high mountain ridges. Would have no hesitation in going back to Oberstaufen for hiking.
We noted that there were many little ski area around the town. They looked like good places to take a young family for learn/develop. If you are an experienced skier, then I think you would be bored pretty quickly (go to Oberstdorf instead).
We ate in the Italian restaurant on site and it did good pizza and pasta, no complaints. Most of the time we went into town to eat and there are lots of German cuisine places there and an excellent ice cream cafe though not the one in the main street.
The weather was poor for June and one day was so wet we had to find alternative entertainment. We took the direct train to Augsburg (1.5 hours) where we got sunshine and a lovely day wandering around the old walls and city.
The big sting in the tail for this resort is the mandatory resort charge of 7.50 euros per person, per day. We just wanted the accommodation which we had already paid for, we were not interested in using their pool etc. The wifi was 20 euros extra too for the week.
If they want to charge for their facilities then do it ion a pay as you go basis.
We opted for breakfast in their restaurant and got a good, buffet every day that set us up for hiking.

The hotel had several buldings with large spaces. The hotels had all the facilitys you need from a 4 star hotel including a large pool, sauna, fitness facilitys. Rooms are large and every room have cooking facilitys. The italian restaurant from hotel " Mediteraneo" coud offer you a very nice meal and a very nice atmosphere.
