We could not have selected a better
Place to stay well enjoying the the beautiful town of Bamberg than the
Hotel Nepomuk. Friendly and attentive English speaking staff.Parking available on site is a big plus.
Terrific room with view and sound of river. Easy walk to town center and sights.

What a location! Literally on the river in a perfect spot in this must see town. Get a room with a view! They also have bikes to use to go on the trails by the river. There is a clever parking lot at the hotel which is another plus. We did not try the restaurant for dinner but it looked lovely. The breakfast was our favorite in Germany so far!

Beautiful location in the middle of the river, our room was very modern & clean. Breakfast buffet included was fantastic. Only negative was the quite expensive wifi.

My boyfriend was born in Bamberg, so we visit this amazing city at every opportunity. The Nepomuk is one of three hotels I'll stay in while here. The location is awesome. Two excellent benefits are that it has it's own (VERY SMALL) car park and an (tiny) elevator! To give an idea how small this lift is... It used to be a fireplace & will only hold 1 person w/a suitcase at a time! We stayed in the top floor in a room facing the Altes Rathaus. Looking out the window carries you back in time to expect to see Heinrich & Kunigunde walking the streets below you. Downsides are... no a/c. In June, it did make for a hot stay. Opening the windows allowed for every moth in a 5 block radius to flock to the light in the room, so it was either be covered in bugs, or close the windows! To make up for the problem, believe it or not, a hotel employee made a special trip to a local store to purchase a portable fan so we'd be more comfortable! The room was a bit spartan in it's furnishings, but still very comfortable. The bathroom more than adequate. Breakfast the next day could have been fresher, but we did come down a bit late in the morning. Would I stay again? Yes... Would I recommend it. I do.. All the time.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this well located hotel. It felt like a cross between Venice and Niagra Falls as it is on a tiny island and the sounds of the river surrounding it reminds me of the sound of a waterfall.

The views are great. The rooms are very modern and a bit sterile, but the views, location, river sounds, and Michelin quality restaurant made up for it.

I lived in Bamberg for 3 years and never heard of this place. We found it at the tourist office and booked it the day we arrived. Location is good, but a little difficult to get to for the first time. Not close to a main road so you have to haul your luggage about 100m but it is no big deal. We were given the option of a room in the main house on the water or a cheaper one in the guesthouse on the shore. Go for the main house, it is worth the money. We got the room pictured in their pamphlet... right on the corner on the 2nd floor looking at the Rathas and the river. Room was large and had plenty of room. Very clean. Staff was nice. We did not eat dinner there... too many better places for less money around the city. Breakfast was the standard bread and meats... but it's included so why not? We parked our car in their garage, but did find later that there was a 8 euro charge per day (better than the 12 euro a day in public lots). Careful though, the garage is tight and we had issues with cars parking in the ally blocking us in, but the staff took care of it and even got the car in and out of the tight entrance. Probably would only stay here once because of the price as it is one of the most expensive hotels in the city, but it was worth it for this trip as it was my honeymoon.

My husband and I have just returned from a 2 night stay at the hotel, following TripAdvisor glowing reviews. We were very disappointed. The"luxury "room in the guesthouse bore no resemblance to any of those featured on the hotel's website. It was very dark and shabby, with virtually no furniture,a hard thin carpet, and thoroughly depressing. The common parts of the guesthouse were the same, and in desperate need of refurbishment. We were shown 4 other rooms, both in the main hotel (these were very small)and the guesthouse until we finally got one that was pleasant with characterful furnishings, and even a small patio garden.Even so,it was still not luxury standard. The towels were few, hard and extremely small. The extractor fan in the bathroom was broken, and so loud that you could not switch the bathroom lights on without causing disturbance. The location could be lovely but the building works referred to in previous reviews are still going on: the guesthouse immediately adjacent to the hotel is covered in scaffolding and there is dirt and dust right by the patio of the hotel,so the picturesque scene is ruined and you would not want to sit outside.I was assured when I booked that the building work had finished. In fact what the hotel meant was there is no actual construction work at the weekend.Nevertheless the ugly building site is still there, and during the week the noise and dust must be horrible.Such is the extent of the work that I cannot imagine the building being complete before 2008.
The staff were efficient but not at all apologetic about the rooms, their variance from what they feature on their website, and the state of the building.I was told that the room we finally got was a big upgrade. In fact I was paying E115 for a room with a E120 list price.Hardly a huge discount .There was a meanness about everything, from charging E2.5 for a tiny 1/4l bottle of water in the room,to adding 90 cents to an E390 bill for a postage stamp. Basically this is not a luxury hotel and is not worth E115 a night.
The food was fine,we ate the full evening dinner but very expensive compared to other meals we had in Bamberg, and again the restaurant decor is dated. The bar is a small area by reception,so not really somewhere you want to linger.
We visited a friend staying at the 4 star Welcome Hotel Residenzschloss, who for E90 had ,in the old part of the hotel,a lovely large light airy room and bathroom, towels and fluffy bathrobe, free daily fresh fruit platter, a champagne buffet breakfast and a free health spa treatment. If we had stayed any longer we would have switched hotels just to be in a more light pleasant and luxurious environment.
Finally,I should add Bamberg is well worth a visit, perfect for a long weekend so do go .
