I stayed in this hotel with friends during a two days business trip. My friends made the hotel reservation.

The hotel has a very good city center location, from outside it looks pleasant. Staff at the reception is very friendly and helpful.

The rooms like the rest of the hotel have not seen any makeover in decades. The bathrooms were extremely bad, the ceiling very low; the room itself was somehow furnished with furniture you would normallyexpect in a German lower middle class family apartment.

Breakfast was soso... selection of food very limited and of average quality. The same applies to the coffee which was an average filter coffee.

To sum up: Had I known upfront where I would be staying that night, I certainly would have opted for a different hotel. I would presume for the EUR 100 and something rate my friends had to pay for the room one could have obtained a better hotel in this beautiful city.

Bamberg is a jewel of a city, and if you want to experience its charm close up, then this hotel has the best possible location. OK, it's not that handy for car parks and the rail station, and there can be some street noise, but if the latter annoys you, take some earplugs--it's worth it to be able to step out of the front door straight into the magic of the Old Town. Our room was small, but practical and clean and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel itself is very quiet. All the staff were friendly, welcoming and very helpful. The breakfasts were terrific, We stayed four nights and would certainly stay again.

This hotel would be alright if it weren't for the loud C1 bar right across the little road. People were up screaming, yelling, and throwing bottles til 3am even on weeknights. The cigarette smoke right outside the hotel was a killer as it seeped through the windows. If you are a light sleeper, do NOT stay here. The girls that work in the hotel, however, are wonderful.

I stayed here for two nights at New Year's. The rooms were a little old and small, but it was comfortable and warm. I originally booked a single room with shared bathroom, but ended up in a room with my own bathroom. The guy at the front desk was very helpful and even carried my heavy suitcase up the stairs and into my room. The location was perfect and I am glad I stayed here. It was literally around the corner from the main centre. Breakfast was great and included in the price: breads, cereals, fruit salad, fruit, cheeses, meats, eggs, tomatoes, pickled things, yoghurt, fish, teas, coffee, fruit juices - almost everything anyone could possibly want. I would definitely stay here again if ever I am fortunate enough to be in Bamberg again.
The morning I left, I decided to walk to the train station - I had a large suitcase, and there was quite a bit of snow about, but it was a good, easy walk, took about 20 minutes and that was with me stopping to take various photos. Check out was quick and easy. If there is a negative all I can say is that the door to my room was not easy to shut - had to really bang it hard (making such a noise).
