“Unpretentious and adequate”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

Essentially a stopover hotel just off N10/A63. Comfortable and clean (but not modernised and fairly basic). Pool is a welcome and reasonably well appointed addition. Dinner is set menu with no choices but better than description given at check in! Wi-Fi a nice touch. Staff frriendly enough

Very officious female staff on the desk. No concession allowed for diet food to be provided. The places looks run down with bedrooms having marked and torn wall paper. The restaurant menu is credulously over engineered for such a establishment a full meal could easily set you back 100 Euros. Service slow when only three couples there dining. Breakfast at 9 Euros is a joke as the staff have already eaten most of the food. If you are going to stay check out prices on other sites as there regular ones not value for money.

Room Tip: Dont have a room over the entrance or facing the back yard

if i was holidaying or passing through the area again i would stay here again , on this occasion travelling with two colleagues from valencia /madrid we needed to stop over somewhere on our way to Caen for the ferry to Portsmouth we had a large hgv with an orchestra on board so we needed a safe place to park , the hotel is signposted off the motorway and is in a very quiet setting 5 kilometres down the round .we asked for three singles no problem very resonable 56 euros .....8 more for breakfast very ,helpfull chap on reception and we parked up along the front of the hotel in view we arrived at 20.00 hrs and he said dinner was served until 21.00 so we had an amazing typical French style meal would reccomend the food here mouthwatering ! you choose from a three tier price menu 19 27 39 euro we had the 39 sat out on the veranda with cuckoos cooing in the background ......the room was fine,( toilet a little smelly for some reason and very cramped ) ,breakfast buffet style but ok the hotel was very quiet but they say it picks up later in the season, there is a nice swimming pool but it was drained on our stay
20 kilometres up the road is the beach and coast line at Bisarrosse the area is also in a national park setting so all in all good nights stay , nice hotel friendly staff ,good food ,5 mins back to the motorway

My partner and I were caught in the recent volcano-related travel chaos and our flights home from Madrid were cancelled. We had to make a long and stressful journey from Madrid to Calais by hire car with our 3 year old daughter, and on day two, stopped for a lunch break at Le Muret. We followed signs from the motorway for restaurants/services, and were directed to Le Grand Gousier, a hotel-restaurant, where we arrived at 1.15pm. We parked up, got out and stretched. The hotel has a pleasant garden with a children’s play area, so while I went to enquire whether they served a menu d’enfant, our daughter went to play in the play area. The manageress said they did a menu d’enfant and told me to look at the menu on the board outside, which I did. It looked fine, but we did not rush in as our daughter was enjoying playing on the swings having been cramped up in the car for hours. After about 5 minutes, we noticed that the manageress and two other hotel employees were standing at the doors, arms folded, glowering at us. The manageress then walked over and said “The child can’t play here. This is a hotel, not a playground. You’ll have to leave.” Though taken aback by her rudeness, we did not want to set off in search of somewhere else to eat, and so I told her that we were going to eat in the restaurant, but had been allowing our child to stretch after such a long journey. We then went into the hotel and approached the restaurant, whereupon the manageress said “Lunch is finished – we stop serving at 1.30”. It was 1.34.
In all my many years of experience of travelling, I have never encountered such a rude and inhospitable hotelier, and I was especially shocked that she would refuse to serve lunch to a 3 year old child. If you have children, you should definitely avoid this place. In fact, even if you don’t have children, but prefer establishments run by human beings, I would recommend giving this one a miss.
