“What a very pleasant hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2013

From walking through the doors to check in to checking out, everything was a pleasure. Room was great with plenty of space, bathroom(no bath) was small but everything perfect. The Stables bar for our evening meal was great, staff friendly and efficient, the menu had plenty of choice and all very reasonably priced. Breakfast was served in the Eden room which has great views of the trees round the Hall. We enjoyed the food so much we came back for lunch on our last day after a run to Durham. We will be returning next year sometime.

Room Tip: If you don't like 7ft fixed showers ask for a bath.

We stayed here for one night after visiting the museum. Staff were friendly and helpful and when we checked in and showed our Best Western card we were immediately upgraded. The room was well appointed and clean and the bathroom was large and had both a huge bath and a large shower. The breakfast was excellent, but the food in the Stables restaurant was not as good. The menu was new and had only been on offer for a couple of days so perhaps will improve. We did find it a long and complicated route to the bar/restaurant, and as it rained the whole time we were there it was a pain having to go outside to access both. The bar area does not have very much seating, and with a large wedding party taking over much of the bar we could not find anywhere to sit and had to remain in the restaurant after we had finished our meal or sit outside in the rain!

We stayed here for two nights while visiting Beamish Museum. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, we found the hotel to be very comfortable. The breakfasts are very good and the ambience and service in the Stables Restaurant only added to our overall satisfacton. Highly recommended.

my wife and i have just spent two nights at the beamish hall hotel and what a grand place it is from the moment you enter the grounds to the time you enter your room. we were met by a friendly member of staff who explained everything we needed to know.we stayed on amidweek bed and breakfast plan which was super value for money.our room was clean, warm and tidy with a giant bathroom with any thing you needed provided.breakfast was a good choice in a grand room and we even had our evening meal in the super stables restaurant at the back of the hotel which offered a good choice of food and drink at reasonable prices. we found all staff to be friendly and could not do enough for you.this is hotel is an ideal base for exploring the local sights and sounds like beamish museum which is next door and what a super place to visit and also beamish park golf course again next to the hotel.you are also close to durham(the cathedral.well worth a visit) sunderland and newcastle to name but three. we will be back to stay in this hotel when next exploring the area.

Just returned from a stay here. Very nice room and a beautiful bathroom with plenty of space.

I stay at Best Western a lot and some are dire, this couldn't be further from it. - service was good and breakfast tasty, fast and plentiful.

I would recommend this as a lovely place to stay but I wish the heating (not in my room, it was off) could be turned down!

This is a great venue for a wedding event, set in its own grounds with good accessibility, parking and gravel/grass area for the outdoor photo's if the NE weather will allow. The rooms are as you would expect for a building of this age which just adds to the uniqueness of the venue. We found the staff most attentive throughout the whole day with excellent table service during the meal. The hotel also has the Stables Bar adjacent which just happens to be a microbrewery with plenty of opportunity for a tasting session or two.

Breakfast is served within the main hotel building in a large, bright and airy room on the first floor and again nothing to complain about here.

Evening meals if you are staying in the hotel are only available from the Stables Bar and although ok there are some other somewhat better places to eat within a mile of the hotel. The Black Horse and the Beamish Park Hotels are worth checking out.
