I stopped here last weekend with my daughter the night before installing her at University. We wanted to stop somewhere relaxing and out of town for a 'last' night together! Beamish Hall was just that. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We stayed in a twin room - a bit on the small side, but beautifully decorated with period furniture, very clean and with everything we needed. Very comfortable beds.

We ate that evening in the Stables Restaurant and it was superb - the best meal we have had for a long time. Food, staff and atmosphere were all faultless.

Thank you all at Beamish Hall - I look forward to visiting my daughter and stopping over again.

Stayed here after booking the package deal, which included overnight bed and breakfast plus tickets for entrance into beamish museum the next day. We are Best Western members and, having stayed at many best western's before, we were really looking forward to this stay.

Beautiful hotel and surroundings, check in was quick and instead of the 'classic room' which comes with the package deal, we found we had already been upgraded to a 'deluxe room' which was a nice suprise, the room was beautiful and plenty of space.
Ate at The Stables restaurant on the evening, which we were really looking forward to. Sadly it was let down by the very slow service from both the waiting staff and the kitchen, despite it not being particularly busy. After a long wait with waitresses walking straight past us when we tried to catch them, we eventually had to ask for our order to be taken, which is not what you expect from a 4star hotel. Our starters and main courses took a very long time to come, but the food was nice when it did eventually arrive. The bar staff here were very good.
Next morning we were really looking forward to the breakfast, which sounded fab on paper. Sadly this was also a massive let-down. We sat for 40minutes before our breakfast arrived, and it definitely wasnt worth the wait. Cheap-tasting sausage that was barely cooked, rubbery bacon, black pudding so rubbery you could bend it, and mushrooms/tomatoes that were uncooked just warmed through. We also asked for brown toast, but we were bought white. When we asked for brown they said it was because they had none left and would have to find some more, which took more time to come. Pot of tea took nearly half an hour to come also. Staff just didnt seem on the ball whatsoever.
Despite these problems we still had a nice time, and beamish museum made up for it as its amazing.

A visit to which was the main reason for staying at Beamish Hall. Overall it was very positive. Clean, tidy, helpful staff and spectacular grounds. The Stables Restaurant was good, if a tad expensive, I thought, but a criticism here is that my Wife was unable to buy a 'diet' type drink there. She tried for diet Coke, diet lemonade etc., four different diet type drinks with no success. They didn't even have ginger beer! Back to the hotel itself, the breakfasts were really good in every respect. A big problem for me though was the very noisy plumbing. I appreciate that there is only so much that one can do when renovating an old property but the flushing and extractor fan noises and water hammer in the pipes operated by early risers were most distracting! The furniture in the rooms was a bit distressed, too.

Room Tip: Cotton wool for your ears!

I was there for 2 nights whilst on business (Sun & Mon) and had booked relatively last minute online. They were clearly busy with a conference on the Mon as we were unable to change our extremely hot room. Breakfast was very disappointing - particularly the granola which was basically a bowl of all the other cereals thrown together - with the scrambled egg & bacon not being particularly appetising. We made do with continental on the second day.

We arranged a suprise party for mums 90th Birthday in August 2013
What a fantastic party as we were brought up nr Beamish and a lot of our relatives still live there We live in Doncaster and had relatives from all over the country and America and Hong Kong. The service was second to none the staff fantastic and the food was out of this world. We had a fantastic party and could not fault one little thing. Rooms clean and good size. having ground floor was excellent for mum with disabilities. It was a night/weekend to remember thanks to the staff who could not do enough and so very helpfull each and every one. They are a credit to Beamish Hall Hotel. Will recomment this place to all. lovely old building very relaxed and fantastic service from all.

Room Tip: all good but access for disabled is close to reception and easy access to lift

This is a very interesting place to stay. For those old enough to know the song 'Bobby Shaftoe', he was one of the former owners. It's quite grand with very large reception rooms which are full of antique furniture. We had a twin room which was of a good size with a very spacious en suite. Everything was immaculate. The staff are lovely and friendly too. The Stables restaurant, adjacent to the hote,l serves good food at reasonable prices and is popular with locals as well as guests. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: Our beds were rather squeeky and at the back of the hotel which meant we heard the staff early in th...

Stayed in a deluxe premier room and dined at The on site restaurant The Stables. I cannot find any faults with any part of the experience. Fab staff! The room was very spacious with a gorgeous 4 poster bed, fabulous huge clean bathroom, with two person jacuzzi and massive shower. Excellent northumbrian breakfast. the Stables restaurant was excellent. Lovely atmosphere, excellent food, brilliant staff and good value for money. I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel and restaurant!!!!
