“What a place and a great day out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2012

We visited the site at the start of the steam festival/event. What can I say.... everything from the location to the different sites to the staff...... all excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the very knowledgable and helpful folk, from the tram/bus driver to the farm hands to the ladies baking in the pit cottages ... I could go on and on. Thank you for a very enjoyable and memorable day out. We will definitely make the time to visit again.
Oh and to those who say it,s expensive .... well it was worth every penny ... and EVEN BETTER .... once you have paid your entran fee , your ticket lasts for twelve months , SO you can visit again and again FREE of charge ... now thats got to be something to shout about !!!!!
A big thank you , once again to everone concerned.

Plenty to see and do. Absolutely huge. Could take up to two days to view everything, however, that's ok because every ticket is a year pass.

“An enjoyable afternoon.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2012

I enjoyed visiting Beamish last year with my partner and daughter but, because we had already been to Blists Hill in Shropshire, found it difficult not to keep comparing the two and, unfortunately we found Beamish a little wanting. We still enjoyed it and had always wanted to visit but it just wasn't as good. There weren't as many buildings to go into or people in character at work. Since we've been though we've noticed the main street on several TV programmes, especially on the Catherine Cookson films.

“Sunny Day Out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2012

What's good? It's huge, you can go on a real tram and a steam train, visit working sweet shop (and buy the sweets) and much more.
What's bad? because it's so big with so many attractions it will tire you out. You need to go twice to take it all in. It's also expensive if there are a family of you (not compared to seeing a football match or Alton Towers, say)
One of my favourite museums ever. Been loads of times. Tip: take a picnic with you.
