“One good hotel that still could be paid.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2010

It is unbelievable how expensive hotels in Geneva are. When I found this one I was really happy.
The reception is not a classical one, there are 3 or 4 stands and behind each stands one young and handsome guy. Not bad J
Their weak point is German language, but in English everything goes well. For some reason was my room sold out so for the same price I got huge suite. That was a great deal!!!
It was great.
The elevator takes you to that special floor only with the use of a key card what ensures certain privacy for the VIP guests. The liftboy was looking at me strangely at first, but just once. There is a special small breakfast room on this floor, what is nice to have peace, quiet and personal service, but the choice is extremely limited. The view from the suite and the breakfast room is on the airport and near hills.
I even wish to try the normal buffet breakfast on the ground floor, but there was no time. I stayed only 2 nights and I was sorry because of that, specially because of the cheap suite.

It looks uninspiring from the outside and is in an equally uninspired location - away from the city centre - but if you've just flown into Geneva late this is a good place to stop for the night. There's a courtesy bus from the airport and check in is quick and efficient. It may not be quite 5 star standard, but rooms are clean and modern and have useful additions such as an ironing board and kettle. Buffet breakfast is very good and extensive whereas dinner in the restaurant was good but fairly expensive. It's a shame that they make a substantial charge for wifi when the less expensive Holiday Inn across the road offers it for free.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2010

When reading some reviews and looking at some (old 2008) pictures, I'm kind of surprised as they do not match what I experienced (see pictures).

This was a one night stay for business because I had to take a very early flight and the hotel is perfectly located near the airport, with a shuttle bus starting at 5h30 AM. Public transport do run earlier if you need it.
Check-in was smooth, no issues, friendly staff.
The room was really big, to European and Swiss standards. I was surprised. There were two big twin beds (you could almost fit two small adults on them), very comfy with good pillows and blanket. The colour of the decoration is a bit sad and dull though.
The TV was an old CRT TV when I was expecting a nice LCD screen, for this type of hotel. Disappointed on that side.
No free Internet, another bad point.
Very nice bathroom, big and well lit. No bath tub but good shower with all amenities.
Room service was good, and quick. A bit overpriced maybe for a burger.

Overall, very good stay, very good night sleep. I would not book this on my own though, too expensive for what it is. Definitely not a 5 star. 4 star might be more accurate.

This is billed as a five star hotel. This seems overrated as it is more comparable to a three star hotel. I stayed on one of the renovated Executive Floors. The rooms are small, functional, and the bed is comfortable. Weaknesses included a small desk and poor housekeeping.

The hotel is relatively close to the airport and about 20 minutes away from downtown Geneva.

Breakfast was good and included with the cost of the room.

Ok, I didn't expect much from this hotel. I just chose it to be near the airport for an early flight. When that flight was cancelled due to the Iceland volcano, the hotel refused to cancel my reservation. So, instead of paying for two hotels, I drove into Geneva and stayed there.

For the record, this is NOT a five-star hotel. The rooms are small, clean, and simple – decorated in a 1984-style. There's nothing actively wrong with it, I'd just put it more in the 3-star category. It's acceptable for an overnight before a flight, but I wouldn't recommend it for much more than that.

For a 5* star hotel, the Moevenpick certainly needs to sharpen up its act.. It's billed as an airport hotel - and it's fairly close - so you'd expect the double glazing to be effective against noise. Not so. One half of the rooms face the main highway, and even on the 1th floor the noise kept me awake all night. The following morning I complained to the receptionist, who promised to move me to the other (airport-facing) side of he hotel for the following night. Nothing happened until I returned late that evening - moved to an "unrefurbished" room. Ineffective cooling, (thermostat broken, can't open the windows). I can report that Geneva Airport starts flying early... Restaurant staff - and there's a lot of them - all mill about aimlessly achieving nothing - except for the poor lass at the bottom of the food chain who tries her hardest. All the others seem to be too busy meeting and greeting, (then going head down into the computer) to do anything as useful as serving food or looking after customers. Distinctly unimpressed

Fabulous hotel, attentive service, the hotel is located by the airport and about 15 minutes by bus or 6 minutes by train from Geneva city center. This hotel feels like a resort in Phuket with Orchids everywhere, very warm temperatures inside hotel and air conditioned rooms. They have an ice cream ( famous Movenpick brand) bar!
Since my husband and I had never been to Switzerland (he went to work at CERN) I joined him to sight see and didn't even know how to go about choosing hotels. I can say from experience (moving from hotel to hotel for a couple weeks) that I have stayed in a few hotels in Geneva, i.e -the city center of Geneva lakeside in a 4.5 star hotel and then had to move because the rate increased during the week and also to be closer to CERN. I got a really good deal on the Movenpick Hotel and didn't know what to expect based on the reviews. This is a 5 star hotel, it is absolutely what you should expect (especially if you get a really good deal) unless you pay retail hotel rates and just want to complain about something, but everything in Switzerland is expensive and hotels charge exorbidant amounts for phone calls, internet, snacks, room service etc. We experienced some technical difficulties w/ internet connection in room and the manager himself came up to the room to fix the problem within minutes. If this hotel were in the main Geneva center by the lake it would be over $700 a night. The nice thing about the hotel is that they provide guests with a transportation card and provide free shuttle to airport. I enjoy driving my German luxury car in the US, but I must say it has been a delight & one big fashion show on the European transportation systems.
