“No bread-butter for breakfast !!! Completely unbelievable....”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

The resort was a beautiful one - large airy rooms with spacious balcony, pretty cottages, playground, nice location. We enjoyed our stay be it for the resort.... but food was a nightmare. Senior members in our group were not used to south indian food.... and the complimentary breakfast only included idly, dosa and upma. We were ready to pay extra for bread-butter. But it was not available. We specifically told them to get bread and butter for us for the next day's breakfast. Initially they agreed... but at breakfast they again said its not available !! how can a simple thing like bread and butter be not available when kirana stores are scattered abundantly on the road right opposite the resort. south indian dishes were so spicy, few of us suffered from upset stomach for the rest of the trip.

The service at this hotel is pathetic...we had to call 8-10 times to fix our TV issue...we took a A/C Deluxe suite..we did not even switch it ON (thanks to climate)...the suite was a clean...
the restaurant only serves 9-10 items even though the Menu is too long.. The front desk staff needs proper training in communication and customer handling...

Araku is a fine destination but i would recommend a max of one night stay there. There are no sight seeing places (apart from Borra Caves). If you are a person which wants to stay at a resort for couple of nights at a single place, then this place is good. Silence. No One to disturb
Chaprail , Padma garden are a big no no...

Overall..not a value for Money...

I was really a fan of APTDC hotels, the best being the one at Rushikonda beach. While i still maintain that APTDC resorts are the best ( and at times only) good accomodation you will get in most of the tourist attractions in Andhra, this particular hotel left something to be desired.

Location - The hotel is located in Araku , but not at best of the locations...its a very crowded place outside..

View - Valley view from the hotel is good and you can spend a good time enjoying it.

Room - the rooms are neat and okayish, nothing great /bad about them

Food - the food is good

Connectivity - there is not much of a mobile network coverage here...so plz watch out

Nearby attractions - not much, a place called chapparai is some 16 Kms but can be skipped

Price - Decent

Overall - i would say you dont have any better option in Araku,,,but its not the best of APTDC

To spice up the drudgery of daily life , we packed two overnight bags and headed for the nearest hill station , Araku Valley. We covered 109 km within 3 hrs . Of that we took a breakfast halt at Tyda. Upon arrival at the Haritha Hill Resort, we checked into a double-bedded suite, overlooking the garden and children's park. The swimming pool was really inviting. The inmates of the resort have a separate dining hall. The food was excellent , though decor of the dining hall could be further improved. Our lunch was followed by the tribal dance of Andhra , Dhimsa. Tourists joined the local tribal dancers. Next morning we left around 9 am , after enjoying South Indian breakfast served in the room. One day's stay in this superb resort refreshed our minds very effectively.

Excellent. I never felt that Govt. will maintain / serve like this. I stayed 2 days at ARAKU Hill resort and 2 days at Rushikonda last month. Both are superb Excellent in all categories. I will recommend every one that they should stay in APTDC resorts only. Food Excellent, Room service Excellent.

There are 2 APTDC resorts in Araku. 1. Hill Resort 2. Vally Resort. Do not get confused. More are less both are same. Vally resort has swimming pool but Hill Resort do not have the swimming pool. The view is good from Hill resort only. Distance between 2 hotels are around 1 KM. Taxi person will charge only 30 Rs from Araku Station.

1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2011

Date: June 09 2011

We , three newly married couples, booked three suite rooms (number 401, 402 and 403 respectively) for a weekend stay(May 7 2011 and May 8 2011). The whole experience of staying there was pathetic. Our rooms were on the third floor and the hotel didnt have a lift facility. We had to take the stairs after a long journey. Once we entered our rooms, the room service was not upto the mark. The bathroom didnt have basic amenities like a soap, towel, tissue rolls and even the flush tank wasnt working. We had to call in the service manager and after a long haul of 20 mins he came in with these things. (The flush tanks werent repaired as they didnt have onboard plumber).

The main reason for taking the third floor inspite of knowing that there was no lift facility was because of the flowery description given by the manager stating that the whole Araku valley could be seen from the back glass door. True, to his description the view was awsome, little did v realise that the doors were noisy and rusted. We had to call the call boy to attend to us, to close that rusted door.

Getting down the three floors, we went to the restaurant a ground floor, only to find a very bad service. We had to wait for almost 15 mins and still none bothered to take the order. It was only when my friend aong with other people waiting there endlessly complained to the F&B manager, they responded. The waiting hall had wriiten boards stating that customer feedback forms would be available at the managers desk. When we asked him for feedback forms to register our complaints he was reluctant to give them.

Having food on time there is yet another hercukean task. Even for breakfast spread of buffet, people serving food were rude to customers. For Dinner we had ordered in the evening (almost as early as 5 hours) and asked them for a room service at 8pm. Even after 9pm they didnt bother to get our food. On repeated calls finally they got it at around 10pm, almost 2 HOURS late!!!!

Adding to our woes were the frequent powercuts and an obsolete generator.... although power came at 11 we had to share our rooms with the bed bugs!!!!

It was truly a nightmare.....!!!

My experience of staying one day at Haritha Hill Resort, Araku (7/8th March, 2011) has come out to be worth remembering. The setting, the ambience, the amenities, the maintenance, and above all, the polite and helping attitude of the staff touched my heart. The Canteen Manager with his team deserves unreserved appreciation from one and all.

A. P Sen,
Howrah.
