“Most beautiful outdoor pool I have ever seen...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

We spent one night at Villa Honegg on our way to Pontresina. It's a wonderful boutique hotel, renovated with a lot of taste and elegance, every small detail has been thought out. It sits on top of a hill, overlooking the lake. Staff at the reception desk is friendly, helpful, very welcoming and available. Rooms are simply beautiful, we had a double room, with view on the lakeside, the view from the large wooden deck is just breath taking. They offer all kinds of things that make one's stay perfect : coffee maker, kettle and tea, no extra charge for the mini-bar, warm slippers, blankets and binoculars to go on the deck and take in the stunning view. We took the time before departing to visit a suite and a junior suite. We have decided to return in the summer and will upgrade to a bigger room, ours was absolutely lovely but a bit on the small side. It is not cheap, but all hotels in that area are really expensive we noticed ! It is not a half-board type hotel so you have the possibility to go eat elsewhere, we had dinner there, it was nice but nothing special and we had to wait a long time...however, I imagine eating on the terrace in the summer must be dream like. After dinner we wanted to go outside, they provide huge coats made of fake fur, very fun and warm ! The outdoor pool is probably one of the most beautiful pools I have ever seen and it's hot ! The spa is small but pretty ; a sauna and a steam room. The gym is perfect, all you need is there. There are several lovely places to sit and read or have tea, a drink, relax…Breakfast is not a buffet so it's rather simple, but served nicely and you can ask more of anything you want. Location is also superb ; hike, bike, just hang out on the deck, go down and visit Lucerne...

Room Tip: Definitely splurge and get a room on the lake side. Ideally with a deck or a balcony. I imagine, roo...

5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

We recently stayed one night at the 5 star Hotel Villa Honegg. We stayed in a junior suite, overlooking the swimming pool and the gorgeous view. Everything about our stay was fautless - from the courteous treatment we received from all members of staff, to the food in the hotel. We went with our two small children and we were all made to feel very welcome. Despite having no kids menu, we were told the chef could conjure up chips, chicken nuggets, whatever our children wanted. My husband took the kids into the swimming pool for the vast part of our stay, whilst I enjoyed a couple of treatments at the hotel. We would love to return, maybe in the summer.

We stayed in I think it was a junior suite on the first floor, with an enormous balcony and great views of the lake. Everything in the room was what you can expect from a 5 star hotel and often even more. The spa is really wonderful and the swimming pool (especially the outdoor part) is great. All made of stainless steel, really great. Make use of one of their e-bikes, coming up the mountain with these bikes is really fun, it gives you a good workout. Service is overall outstanding.

Uniquelly located over the Lake of Lucern with a marvellous view of the mountains the newly renovated Hotel is worth a visit.
The rooms are tastefully decorated. You either get Lake view or Mountain view, which is somehow a misnomer as the Lake view features also the mountains. I would suggest in hindsight to book in winter time the Mountain view, as that side of the hotel is more sunny. The rooms with balcony’s or verandas are on the other side (Lake View). Only the rooms on the second floor have huge balcony's. Third floor rooms have a tiny balcony.
The library or salon and the eating room on the first floor breaths the “Villa”-part of the name. You feel like at a private home.

Very special: Breakfast hours are till early afternoon... so you never have to hurry in the morning.

The swimming pool – inside and outside – is surely a main attraction. As the outside pool is heated we could enjoy the pool around the Christmas days with a view of snow covered mountains.

The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Service is outstanding.

We enjoyed eating dinners at the hotel. The chef understands to superbly cook meat. Fish and some side dishes leave more room for improvement. Nevertheless service is outstanding and the wine selection well thought.

A excellent view point is up the hill to the right when the hotel is behind you. After a quarter hour you reach a crest. On the other side it goes some 100m down. The view point overlooks the upper part of the Lake of Lucern and other lakes.

Room Tip: Lake view, second floor

Excellent, quiet and relaxing hotel with a very friendly staff. Beautiful outdoor pool overlooking the mountains. Rooms are nicely appointed, and have huge balconies, but the bathroom is pretty small. The restaurant, compared to the excellent level (and the price) of the rest, is inadequate and seriously disappointing.

Located on a ridge overlooking the smashing lake of Lucern and the Alps around Titlis mountain: breathtaking!
This hotel was recently fully renovated by a very rich owner of the Middle East. Very tasteful and elegant!
Enjoy a great breakfast on the splendid terrace. Then play a round of Golf on the charming course of Bürgenstock, just around the corner from the hotel. They even give you an electric Golf cart to drive over there.
We had a fantastic weekend in this hotel.
First Class in high style.
Well worth a detour!
See the pictures.

I stayed one night at Hotel Honegg to attend a business meeting. The location is unique and perfect for anyone seeking a private getaway in the Swiss Alps.

The hotel has more the feel of a private house as the finishes and attention to detail in the bedrooms and bathrooms are not something I've seen in a hotel before. Facilities are first rate, with full conference facilities, gym, spa, salon and an outside infinity pool. There are also several walks from the hotel which offer incredible views of the surrounding valleys and lakes. The food is superb and the menu highlights how many of the ingredients had been sourced from the immediate area.

The staff however are the best individual feature of Villa Honegg. They are clearly all proud of the hotel and were happy to go the extra mile to ensure the business meeting I attended ran smoothly and that our stay as private guests was simply unforgettable. Totally first rate.
