“Good Times, Good Location, Great Friends”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013 for a stay in April 2013

We had a wonderful time at Old Man Bay Condo’s, we stayed in a 3 bedroom unit on the second floor, Unit # 207, April 21-28, 2013. We stayed with two other couples that are dear friends who we have travelled several times with before. It was a must that every couple have their own bedroom and own bathroom. Old Man Bay Condo’s met this requirement where few others did. We drew cards to see who would get first choice of bedrooms to make it fair. The condo was just as the pictures showed, actually larger than we thought. Condo was in good shape and no real surprises just a few minor things in the kitchen that really did not cause a problem for us.

Condo owners answered several questions for us before, during and after and gave us some great information on the area. Easy booking with no problems at all. We had been to Grand Cayman before but have always stayed on Seven Mile Beach on the West End. We thought we wanted to try something different and love the area and are so glad we did. We prefer the quiet non touristy areas and this condo met all our needs. We had the beach area to ourselves for the most part, only a few couples in the whole condo complex the entire time we were there. You just must remember you are about 45 minutes from any good shopping and groceries so car rental is a must. There will be no walking to anything in this remote part of the island like on Seven Mile. There are some good restaurants within 10-30 minutes away, just not as much variety that you would get on Seven Mile.

Only thing we thought that was a little strange was that there were only 4 chairs on the patio even though it was a 3 bedroom unit. Mentioned this to the owner when we got back and they said it was the original set that came with the condo, they would look into getting something else when they were down again. I guess we were the first to comment on it. Also, we had mentioned a few things in the kitchen that needed replacing just due to everyday wear and tear. They were glad we brought it to their attention and wanted me to be very specific so they could have it replaced. They truly want your stay to be a good one. Only other thing we wished it had was a propane gas barbeque. They did have a communal area that had a charcoal barbeque but it had been several years since we had used charcoal and it was time consuming. With a charcoal barbeque you need to plan ahead to get the coals ready, we lacked in this department and a few times the men were barbequing by flashlight.

When renting a condo we treat it as if it was our own. We do not understand how people can be so ignorant when it comes to other people’s belongings. It just makes our blood boil when we see what people will do. One of the hair dryers in the bathrooms that were provided by the “owners” was in disgusting shape with hair spray & hair stuck to it, very gross. We would not even bring ourselves to use it. This was no fault of the owners, but the people who left it in that shape. Shame on you whoever you were for leaving it that way. That person should have replaced it at their expense with no questions asked. This is not a hotel but someone’s home that you are staying in. I guess that is the chance you take when renting to total strangers. There is always some kind of losers that wreck it for everyone. Unfortunately we all have come into contact with them through our lives. We mentioned it to the owners and they said they would replace it. Only reason we mentioned it was because we could not believe someone could leave it like that, we did not want the owners to think we were the slobs that did it.

We would not hesitate to rent this unit again and we will definitely recommend it others. (already have) Might be back in the fall.

If you are looking for a relaxing vacation, this is the area you want to be in. It definitely served our purpose. We had a wonderful time it was great location for us. It also helped we travelled with great friends too !!

Looking forward to our next vacation. Thanks Amy & Tony for letting us enjoy your vacation property.

Management Response
May 30, 2013
Hi Annette,
Thank you for your kind words. We also love the serenity of Old Man Bay. Your feedback is appreciated and we will address the points that you made to the best of our ability. As we discussed, the charcoal grill is part of the complex as a whole so all units can use it. If we had a propane grill replacing the tank would be up to each owner and storing them might present a safety issue. When we send out our information packets we inform our guests in advance that there is a charcoal grill for their use. Glad that you were able to utilize all of the facilities on the property. As for the hair dryer; it is being replaced. No problem there.
We are always grateful for guests who feel at home in our home and try to be as accommodating as possible. Looking forward to your return to Cayman Paradise On the Bay.-Amy and Tony

“Beautiful and Clean”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2011 for a stay in November 2011

This was our second trip to Grand Cayman, and we decided to rent a condo, rather than stay in a hotel, We were not disappointed at all in this rental. The owners could not have been more gracious if they were onsite. Fully equipped, very clean and well taken care of. Beautiful views, quiet location but easy commute to Rum Pointe, as well as George Town. These owners thought of everything, providing a photo album of places to visit, good restaurants, and general information on the area. 3 bedrooms, full kitchen, super large bathroom off the master bedroom, as well as another full bath off a second bedroom, and a bath in the hall, immediately next to the 3rd bedroom. There is a pool onsite, as well as a beach that is more sandy than other beaches, as it is kept up by the condominium, and the ocean comes in through a break in the coral reef. If we go back again, we will certainly try to get this same rental condo, it was excellent.

“Large Condo, beautiful private pool, cove & beach, quiet & relaxing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2011 for a stay in July 2011

We researched the island before selecting this condo. We were not disappointed! My husband, our two young sons along with my parents and a sister stayed a week in July. We all agreed this was the best choice! We had two other groups staying at condos on seven mile beach - traffic, noisy, crowded, expensive, touristy, tiny condos, limited parking. Yuck. When we compared our choice to theirs, we all agreed we made a better choice staying at On the Bay condo in Old Man Bay. Paradise was on the north side at this condo! On the Bay offers a beautiful, peaceful Cayman experience. We felt like we had our own private pool, protected cove and beach. Plenty of shade under the gazebo & palm trees, plenty of chairs too. We were never a far walk from the condo, vehicle, pool or beach which was a blessing with two children. The condo is spacious, clean and well equipped. Plenty of room inside and on the balcony. Three bathrooms are a bonus! Beds and furniture were comfortable. The Master Bedroom and bathroom were spacious. One of the back bedrooms is darker and perfect for those late sleepers, while the other one offers a beautiful morning sun for the early risers. The elevator is great with luggage and groceries, check for the cart under the stairs. Maintenance does an great job everyday of keeping up with the pool & grounds. Early morning beach walks in search of fish, snails, turtles and hermit crabs are great. Look for turtles nesting. The coral is incredible, but wear water shoes or sandals on the unspoiled beach. We had the privilege of meeting Ann the Turtle Lady. She invited us along with several other guests in the area to participate in a baby turtle release. At about 8:30pm under a full moon we released a dozen baby turtles on the beach. You can't get that experience at the turtle farm or on seven mile beach! A vehicle is a must. Loved rum point and kaibo beaches. Ask about the star fish beach - large red and orange star fish right off the shore. Town, shopping & other attractions are nearby. Loved Vivine's and Over the Edge restaurants. Good affordable, local food. Overall this condo and area was a best choice for us. We loved it! Thank you Amy and Tony

“Beautiful Condo”

Just back from a wonderful week at Cayman Paradise on the Bay! Amy and Tony are great owners and provided lots information about the condo, the area and the island. The condo is well equipped and quiet. We enjoyed the wi-fi which allowed us to check out local restaurant and attraction reviews. We also enjoyed the Botanical Gardens and the Mastic Trail (both nearby) and the Turtle Farm. A car rental is a must - we used Andy's with no problems. Seven Mile Beach is about a half hour away and had beautiful sand and warm turquoise waters! When the cruise ships visit the beach can be a little busier but we had no trouble finding our own space. We also recommend Smith's Cove on the south side as a nice little secluded spot for snorkeling. We highly recommend Cayman Paradise on the Bay and would not hesitate to go back!
Quick note - virtually all the stores - including grocery and liquor - are closed on Sunday.
