“Glorious surroundings and friendly service.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2012

I stayed at Orchard Glory Farm for a two day work conference. The hosts were really welcoming, the surroundings magnificent and the chalets basic but clean and very warm wih both RC air con and electric blankets. It was agent place for a team meeting and catered for 33 of us with ease.

We booked a two night stay after it came up on CUDO last year.

We (myself, hubby and two kids 2yrs+3yrs) stayed in a two bed chalet, it was very clean and comfortable. There is a reverse cycle air con in the lounge, as well as a fireplace.

There was a great playground for the kids (perfect for ages 2-9 i'd say).

As for the animals, there was one (very friendly) horse, two ponies, some sheep, two goats and some llamas (one that liked to spit), some roosters and a few lose geese (& no rabbits, which my girls kept asking about)… For my two little kids that was enough to keep them happy but i think for older kids it would have been a bit disappointing. Especially seeing as it seemed no body was around to ask about feeding them (which they would have LOVED to do).

I have to also say the Manager David (possibly owner) was very nice and even dropped off a bag to my front door (in Perth) that we had accidently left in the chalet. Was very nice and greatly appreciated.

We would definitely stay here again. (hopefully there will be more interaction with the animals next time tho).

I joined trip advisor simply so I could write this review. Our experience was nothing like the other review on here. We had a ball. Kids had freedom, fresh air, animals, farmer, fruit and lots and lots of fun.

It's a quiet place with basic chalets and it didn't over promise to us. People were friendly and very helpful. We got a great deal on cudo so it was a bargain. We even got upgraded to a 3bdrm!

Rooms are clean, beds are firm.

Would do it again today!

We were so excited about taking our 2 year old to this 'farm stay' for a long weekend. What, with the advertised promise of 'Lake, Waterfalls, Vineyards, Fruit Picking, Animal Feeding, BBQs, Playground', and 'spanking new' 2 and 3 bedroom 'chalets', what more could we want for a pleasant family weekend?
First of all, it must be said that Orchard Glory is located amid some beautiful WA countryside, and the 1 hour drive north of Perth is enjoyable. However, upon our arrival , we were confronted by what can only really be described as a rural eye-sore - about 20 portable classroom-like units clustered together around a very small 'lake' (dam?) and colourful children's playground, as well as a smallish conference hall. The 'waterfalls' were not in operation during our stay - we figured that a tap must be turned on above some rocks that border one end of the lake.
Our unit (chalet is definitely a misnomer) was very simple (80's decor) but fully self-contained and very clean. There is no heating in the bedrooms but there are electric blankets on all beds. Kitchen/dining/lounge is all open plan, and there is a balcony overlooking the central roundabout and basically all the other units. We payed $180/night, which we thought was a little steep despite rate normally being $250/night.
As far as the 'farm-stay' side of things, this place felt like a ghost-farm. There was one horse, two ponies, a handful of alpacas and sheep, four geese, one chicken, one rooster, and two goats (one of which looked near blind). We didn't sight the rabbit during our stay. OK, so there were some animals, but basically it is left up to you to wander around the 'farm', pat the animals, or feed them grass that you have gathered. There are certainly no organised or routine feeding times for you to be involved in, and definitely no other animal activities as such. We didn't even see the managers out and about the 'farm' doing 'farm things', except for one occasion: a boy hopped on a tractor and sped off to the paddocks with hay for the animals.
Next was the disappointment of the fruit-picking - it clearly states in the house-rules that you can only pick one or two pieces of fruit and that they cannot be removed from premises. Not that there seemed to be a whole lot of fruit to choose from anyway. And I believe this 'rule' is consistent with the area.
And then there was the debacle of the on-site'wineries'. All the grapevines seemed to be decrepit, and the shed that probably once housed wine-making equipment was bolted shut.
Sadly this is a mostly negative review, but I guess that you should provide what you advertise. What we did enjoy - the cleanliness and the quiet.
