“Great hotel and great service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2012

We were at this great hotel only two nights and we have to say - this is beautiful hotel with great stuff, nice rooms and good service. It is good choice for romantic stay and when you are searching quiet place to relax.
Also breakfast sevice is very good with many variety of food. It is little bit problem with wi-fi connection at your room but never mind if you want only relax and nothing to do.
We recommend this hotel...

The location of this hotel is spectacular, amazing, magnificent (and many more superlatives) - on a cliff facing west over the Tyrrhenian Sea and the island of Giannutri. Perfect for watching the sunset with a cocktail. Luckily for us at the end of October, we had the weather that made the best of the location.
Overall the hotel was good, the reception and restaurant staff were very courteous but there were a few things that could be improved. First, for a Deluxe room at 160 EUR a night (low season, it's much higher in summer) I would have expected the interior of our bedroom to be better appointed. We had a bed, a chair and a balcony...no additional touches, like pictures on the wall, rugs, small things that make you feel welcomed. Secondly, the cleaning could have been better - there were hairs on the floor in the bathroom when we arrived. Finally, the promise of a great restaurant was one of the draws for us, however, I have to say we were disappointed. The menu consisted of a choice of 4 starters, 4 first (pasta) courses, 4 main courses and 4 desserts. However the menu never changed so by the time we got to the third night we were pretty much eating the same things again. The prices of the wine were also very high, even for the wines from the local area and we were surprised, with a menu of predominantly fish, that there were only 3 white wines available.
Would we go there again? Probably not at those prices. Would we visit the area again/ Definitely!

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in mid October and it was the most expensive hotel we stayed at during our two week touring holiday. We booked it because we wanted to stay somewhere special and given that, when we arrived, we'd been suffering from a distinct lack of sleep due to noisy 'neighbours' in previous hotels - we were rather in need of some rest and recuperation! The hotel is halfway down a very steep road with a number of hair-raising switchbacks on the way down. We booked a deluxe room with a seaview. The view from our balcony was lovely across sparkling blue sea and our room was spacious - not luxurious, but nice enough. Unfortunately we had another couple next door who smoked on their balcony and so, at least until they left, we couldn't use it. During the night, one of them obviously had a bad cold and we were woken by coughing during the night and early in the morning more noise as they departed from their room. My husband also heard a staff member coming back to his room late at night. His room was on the other side of ours. Not a good start. Because the road to San Stefano wasn't that brilliant to drive on at night, we decided to take dinner in the Hotel's restaurant on our first evening. The food was really excellent and staff attentive but we spent most of the evening batting small flies away from our food. This continued as we ate breakfast in the morning until we decided to open a window and most flew out. Would have thought this might have been done by the staff before we all arrived. Breakfast was nothing special but the coffee was fresh and made to order. This is a nice hotel overall but not in our opinion worth the enormous price we paid compared to some other, much cheaper hotels we stayed in. But the views are gorgeous, just a little more attention is needed. We'd recommend it to others despite these niggles.

This was one of the most wonderful places I've ever stayed in! The location itself is wonderful. Hidden on the cliffs with a view from pretty much everywhere amazing especially as the sun goes down. The beach is vertical 800m down and is also amazing. Comfy deck chairs are prepared for you in you preferred location on the rocky ledges and if you are a fan of sun bathing you can swim to the floating platforms and get a wonderful tan!

Staff are so friendly and helpful! And they catered to all my gluten free needs. They immediately rememebred I was a cealiac and I never had to repeat it again!
I will be definitely coming back!

This hotel is a find, the grounds and location are out of this world. The staff makes you welcome and I echo the comments of most reviews. The manger is charming and helpful as are all the rest of the staff. Can I nit pick? Sure but this place is a 10 hands down. You have not lived until you see this place. Our room was spotless the bathroom spacious new and clean the view from our balcony was too perfect. I would say the food is not a ten but I would not stay anywhere else in Monte Argentario!

While we can't say that the room was luxurious, we absolutely loved staying here. The views are simply remarkable, the grounds are gorgeous, the infinity pool is luscious, and access to the wonderful beach club is a great treat. This is a very romantic spot and we highly recommend staying here. The restaurant is excellent. We had wonderfully prepared food each night and the service was great. Sunsets are gorgeous. One suggestion - some of the rooms involve lots of stairs so if that's a problem, let the hotel know when you make reservations. This is a delightful place.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view.
