We had a lovely stay at the vines cottage for 3 nights...Mary is a fabulous host, the Vines has a lovely pool and the environment is very tranquil, peaceful & picturesque ...beautiful bird song in the morning...Delightful stay...The cottage is great for the little kids and Mary treated us like family. Lovely location.

We had a great stay at The Vines. Mary takes very good care of her guests and treated our children like grandkids. She offered the service of preparing a meal for us and we were treated to an amazing dinner and desert unsurpassed by fine restarants that I have been to.

Room Tip: All accomidations are great.

We had a four-night stay in the Cottage at the Vines in early October. We had a warm welcome from Mary and her two friendly dogs, and we soon got cracking with a BBQ in the evening sun on the inviting patio. It was an exploratory few days, our first in the area. We took full advantage of the wine bicycling trail which passes very close by, to have a full day in the saddle, and to roll home merrily at dusk. The Cottage had a well-equipped kitchen, so we happily prepared meals there, because the first evening's BBQ was not repeated due to chillier evenings, but the cosy woodburner was laid ready for us and soon we were sweltering indoors! One night it was so frosty the windmills came on at 4am to waft the frost off the budding vines, and this kept us awake for a while, but you just have to think, well, it is a working vineyard after all, so it is par for the course. And we sampled Mary's wine and it was very enjoyable, and worth the inconvenience!
A very relaxing place, awesome views to the hills, snow-covered the morning we left, wide skies, and the vines bulging with promise. And a super host to feel at ease with. What more could you want?

I am delighted to say I stayed in House at The Vines, 27th and 28th October. My room and bathroom where well appointed with a special touches making it a very homely experience. The breakfast was to die for, with effort made on both meals to be difference and original. Mary is a lovely, gracious hostess and a wealth of local information which I found invaluable. So thank-you Mary, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in such peaceful surroundings and will and can recommend this accommodation. Suzanne J

We had such an enjoyable stay at The Vines. Mary is a treat and we were made to feel so welcome and comfortable in her beautiful home. Our room was very nicely furnished and the bed so comfy that it was hard to get up the next day! Breakfast was absolutely amazing and went over and above what we were expecting. From home made jams & muffins through to a full cooked brekkie with the works (home made quiche as well!) Mary's great hospitality and attention to finer detail allowed to leave the Hawkes bay feeling like we had a great break, albeit if it was only for one night.

We had a great time staying for 2 nights in the cottage. Great to walk through the vines, very peaceful and comfortable. There were few bit and pieces missing like towel racks, bed side lamps, soap, and plunger coffee to make it perfect - but still a excellent value. Highly recommended. The breakfast was a delight, far from the standard egg and bacon and Mary was a wonderful host.

What a wonderful experience, my overnight stay with Mary & Hamish was. Great hosts, meals would have put most restaurants to shame, superb wines including those from their own vineyard, and lovely surrounds amongst the grape vines. I didn't try the magnificent swimming pool as it was winter at the time of my stay. My room and the facilities were five star. I enjoyed the company of Mary and Hamish over dinner (at my request) and their humour. I would thoroughly recommend this "Paradise" to anyone visitng the Hawkes Bay in New Zealand. They won't be disappointed!
