“Not worth it for the money - they mucked up our ski passes”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

We paid a lot. The ski passes didn’t work in the morning. We complained and was told (in an email) that we were “lying” that this prevented us from skiing for 2 hours and that this wasn't their problem - they passed the buck.

We also complained about the state of the chalet and food and again was fobbed off. Cooking on mass means that the quality of the food isn’t of the high standard I would expect from this level of chalet. For a lower amount of money this is OK. But not worth the amount they are paying and that nice ski world have your money they don’t care.

Whilst we complained to ski world they didn’t take us seriously and were left with a “not our problem” but “please come again”. My advice is you can get a better deal going elsewhere. If you go with Ski World and things go wrong they don’t care.

This is NOT a chalet, pictures in the brochures are of a completely different building! The spa is in a buiding next door ...again misleading though there is a working sauna. In reality, this is a set of rooms within one very large apartment building. You go in at level 5, get the single working lift to level 0 & walk to the chalet door. The rooms are 2 the next 2 levels below. So it is slightly claustrophic & personally we felt 24 people in one 'chalet' was too many people. Not really a luxurious hone from home as people expected.

The food was very good & chalet staff excellent.

Its a bit too hot , so no excuse for a nice fire & a very noisy chalet so take some ear plugs! Great jacuzzi baths though.

Some rooms are quite small, corner rooms & especially if looking for twin room...we had to rearrange to get some space.
Would highly recommend a massage at tango!
We dont think we would return, though i love Val Thorens as a resort... no queues!

Room Tip: corner suites are very small & some people found it a squeeze to close the bathroom door.

Right from the off our holiday at Chalet Phoenix was a roaring success. We arrived early to the chalet but despite this the chalet staff, Lauren and Heleln, helped us with our luggage, showed us to our room and were ready and willing to answer any questions and point us in the right direction and offer refreshments.

The room and bathroom were utterly spotless, the linen pristine and all the little touches were there unfailingly all through the week. We really were made to feel at home and at ease in the chalet. The food was absolutely superb, even for a fussy eater like myself, the chef Chris was an absolute star catering for everyones tastes. I'm sure I'm not the only person who went away with a couple of recipes scribbled down in my notepad. How they all managed to keep the standard up through the whole week in such a large chalet is beyond me!

Our rep Emma was on hand every evening to check that everything was going ok for anybody and to see if anyone needed anything, she even provided menus and helped with bookings for the Wednesday night.

We were in room number 3 which had a double bed and was right opposite the sauna, that coupled with the jacuzzi bath in the en-suite made for several extremely blissful and relaxing afternoons!

Great chalet, great rep, great staff, another thumbs up for skiworlds 5* chalets in the 3 valleys!

Room Tip: Room 3 was perfect for us as a couple. Proper double bed. Sunny balcony. Across the corridor from...

We have literally just returned this afternoon from staying at the Phoenix chalet and are so impressed that we wanted to leave an immediate review. This was by far the best chalet I have ever stayed in, in Europe. The staff were extremely welcoming and made me feel at home instantly. I am a very fussy eater and the chef Chris (Rabbit) was very accommodating and cooked an alternative without making me feel awkward every night. The chalet itself is very modern, tidy and clean. It looks as it does in the pictures on the Ski World website. The only thing I can mildly moan about is that the temperature is a bit too hot in the rooms BUT is easily rectified by leaving your balcony window open a jar at night time and put the curtain over it. We slept brilliantly after that. I hope the staff are reading this comment as I want them to know how professional, welcoming and approachable they are. Such a brilliant holiday and it was all down to the staff, chalet, snow and lovely people we met there. I am so gutted we are back home from the most perfect holiday. A truly unforgettable holiday. How impressed we have been with our ski holiday in Chalet Pheonix.

The staff (Lauren, Helen & Chris) have been more than superb! We are still here, but leave tomorrow and I didn't want to wait any longer to sing their praises!

We have had lots of ski chalet holidays but this has beaten them all by far!

I arrived with a chest infection and I can honestly say I have never received more genuine care and attention than I have here! My appetite has been zero which has been such a shame with the fabulous food Chris has produced for us! The staff went out of their way to ask could they cook me something different because they were concerned about the amount I have been eating!

The chalet is lovely! Very clean throughout and the beds are really comfy! Big plus is jacuzzi baths in every room - especially after a hard days skiing!

We have never visited the same chalet twice but think we will come back here next year!

Lauren, Helen and Chris have been absolutely superb and could not have done better!

Also - Emma our rep has been equally attentive and deserves recognition.

Room Tip: We stayed in a bottom floor room on the sauna side which was a good idea as you don't get so muc...

Have just returned from a week in the above chalet it was amazing. The chef Chris (Rabbit) dont ask, and hosts Helen and Lauren were fantastic. The chalet itself, its position, and quality was of the highest standard. How Chris turned out food for 24 people EVERY night to such a high standard in such a small kitchen i still dont know ! anyone staying in this chalet this season is in for a great time as its position is perfect for the slopes. The only thing you do need to watch is the spa that the chalet is linked gets VERY busy at 4.30 onwards so go when it opens at 3.30. Dont forget to take your DVDS as the plasma screen is good in the seating area. There is sat Tv but its only in French. The bathrooms with jacuzzi bath SAVED MY LEGS

Room Tip: There are two staircases in the chalet one from the dining area and one from the seating area, each...

Chalet Phoenix is a fantastic place to stay in Val Thorens. In terms of location you can ski directly out of the back door, and if you are a more nervous skier it is only a brief walk (down hill) to the more gentle slopes. It is also only a short (less than 5 mins) walk to the best bars & restaurants when it comes to sampling the nightlife.

Inside the chalet is nicely appointed with a living area which can fit the full capacity (24 people), although this might be a little cosy if you are part of a mixed group. With modern alpine feel it has a relaxing ambience. The flat screen TV with plentiful films was a great touch for the calmer evenings. The rooms were comfortable, fresh, always clean and the bathroom (especially the bath) is stylish.

The staff were great, friendly, competent, and very accommodating of the needs of the group, Skiworld did a sterling job overall.
