“Excellent location, friendly staff, great food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2012

As people have said, some of the facilities could be improved such as the lifts, which are old and unreliable, and the bar could have a slight facelift. However I thought it was a great hotel overall. Comfortable twin room with fresh clean linen, not huge but not too small. Good shower. Room and bathroom were very clean.

Location is excellent for the slopes and nearby shops. Plus, the bus from Tignes Val Claret stops just behind (just go up the stairs to the hotel rear entrance).

The staff in the reception, bar and hotel are all very approachable and willing to help.

The evening meals were delicious and beautifully presented. Breakfast was a good buffet (however don't expect to get bacon eggs and sausages! It's more pf continental breakfast)

There is free WiFi in the bar. Reception is not manned all day - just morning and evening, but this didn't cause any problems.

I would recommend this hotel!

Room Tip: South facing have better views.

This is advertised as a three star hotel in the French Alps-It is excellent value for money in a resort like tignes (a skiers resort). We had a group staying last week (24-31 March 2012) booked through Crystal Ski. To summarise, great 3* hotel in a great location, the food being excellent all week. The staff were all friendly and excellent. Rooms basic and clean. The only down side, as mentioned by others, are that the lifts were a bit sporadic. Only negative of entire holiday was that we booked a beginner into lessons via Crystal Ski with ESF (Very badly organised lessons and would NOT recommend), however Crystal rep was great and we got a part refund.

Room Tip: Top floor, south facing.

We stayed 10-17 March 2012 and booked through Crystal.
The hotel is well located, a short (but icy) walk from the main lifts and within the commercial centre of Tignes 2100 (Le Lac). Building design and decor very much of the 1970s. The room we had was cramped, for 2 adults and 1 child. Child slept directly above the heads of the adults, not ideal. The adult beds were fairly firm and comfortable, though the pillows were thin and soft.
We paid a bit more for a south facing room with balcony, which had good views of the lake and mountains and I thought was worth the extra. The bathroom was a decent size, if old fashioned, with all facilties working well. The shower was always hot and powerful enough.

The dining room is simple and pleasant, though a bit chilly on occasions. Breakfast mainly cold buffet style, with boiled eggs and thick porridge as warm options. Cereals, yoghurt, breads, toast, croissant, cold meats, cucumber, tomato, fruit salad, teas, coffee, fruit juice, etc. Dinner was 3 courses and generally good quality, with a few less common meats and vegetables on offer from the Swedish hosts. Rather limited range for vegetarians. Portions I found a bit small, given the energy being burned up on this sort of holiday. Alternative kids choice on offer, such as lasagne.
I found all staff, including Sven the manager, polite and helpful. The service in the dining room and cleaning of rooms was very good. Staff were efficient, friendly and dealt calmly with minor incidents, such as a guest accidentally knocking 3 full jugs of milk onto the floor during breakfast. I'm pleased they appear to have tried to tackle some guests, old enough to know better, who thought it OK to be very noisy well into the wee small hours most nights.
The bar seemed OK, with a decent sunny terrace outside. It had 2 pool tables and a bar football game. Wi fi was free though very slow. The 2 lifts were hopelessly unreliable, which could be an issue for those on higher floors, or the less mobile. Boot and ski storage rooms OK - take a small padlock if you want to secure your skis in your locker. Lockers too small to store snowboards.
All things considered, if you're here for the skiing/boarding, this is a reasonable value base. Not great for those who spend more time indoors or expect modern standards of comfort.

Room Tip: Higher floor rooms (up to 7th) quieter but lifts to them unreliable. Good views from south facing ba...

Hotel fantastic for the money, very pleased, excellent staff members, enthusiastic and helpful, food was awesome, 3 courses every evening, every single plate was faultless, free red and white wine with the food. Great location, super central in Tignes de Lac.
please though for gods sake sort the lifts out, the one let down, antiquated lifts.. we were on the 7th floor and after a days skiing this is a major leg ache, plus one of our party broke his foot, no fun AT ALL for him.

Room Tip: We paid a little extra for a room with a hip bath (7th floor) well worth it for a post ski soak!

Let's start with the positives. It is on the slopes. the food is good and the waitresses extremley friendly. Thats it.
The Manager Sven is a rude incompetent who does not know his job, he runs his Hotel like a military establishment and has no concept of fun ie 150 euro fine if noisy after 10pm at night. The Bar is an expensive shambles which I would never entertain in Scotland, the rooms are tiny, basic with inadequate showering facilities. The Hotel is tired beyond belief and I will be writing to my Tour Operator to complain about it. I have now travelled every year to this region since 2005 and this establishment is without doubt the worst and most expensive place I have ever visited, my group always takes between 30/90 visitors and to a man they all say they will never again visit this Hotel. Do so at your own risk.

The accommodation was basic but comfortable. The location is ideal with access to a number of lifts within walking distance - giving you a choice of routes up and down the mountaini each day.

Evening meals were excellent quality and the staff were always happy to help. Took a while to get used to continental Breakfast (salami, ham & cheese) but no complaints overall.

This was one of the worst hotels in a ski resort I have stayed in. The rooms were small cramped and filthy. The bar was expensive and dirty with torn sofas and glass left on the floor and never cleaned up. There was meant to be a roaring log fire which only ever roared once, the rest of the time the bar staff were burning tissues to try to get it going, obviously never been boy scouts!
No tv in the room or bar so nothing to do except play pool or stare at the non existent fire with your over priced beer which usually had bits floating in it, pipes needed claening desperately!
The staff were nice and the meal in the evening was great, the hotel is also very close to the slopes which is great but the hotel itself needs a revamp, they have 2 little lifts which dont always work which is not fun if your room is on the 7th floor!!
The electrics went out in our room once so we had no power which was sorted by the staff but still not acceptable. One of the beds had what looked like blood on the mattress. I dont moan often and I have traveled so I am not a whinger but this is not worth the money you pay for it at all.
I would not reccommend this hotel to anyone, pay the extra cash and get a decent place to stay or you will regret it....you have been warned!!

Room Tip: Book another hotel!
