We booked this holiday before really reading the reviews on Trip Advisor. I was panicked when I saw how terrible this place was rated! However we were not able to cancel it, and so reluctantly we came anyway. I must say, the location within the resort is fantastic. If you're like me, and don't want to be lugging your skis around for miles, then the very short walk to several lifts was welcome. The skiing was fabulous, and I would highly recommend this resort.
Having read the reviews of Alpina I was really worried. In brief, the accommodation is small, and plain, and manageable for two people for a week. I certainly wouldn't recommend going with more than two in a room, and the facilities are definitely NOT for self-catering. However. The staff were very friendly and each evening for dinner remembered which drinks we liked etc, and were always very polite. The quality of the food was very good, and I really liked the fact that if you didn't like the main course, you could chose off the a la carte menu instead at no extra cost. Breakfast was disappointing however as there was really nothing cooked at all.
The swimming pool was cold, as people have suggested, but they did turn the heat up if you asked, and it was always open when it was supposed to be. The sauna was very welcome.
In summary, very basic, definitely don't go self-catering, great location for the slopes, friendly staff, and surprisingly good food. However I probably wouldn't stay here again.
