“A Hidden Gem Of A Chalet”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2009

Finding a great skiing holiday for 3 families of friends totalling 15 people has been an ongoing drama for years, but we have found the perfect spot - Ferme du Ciel in Samoens, under an hour's drive from Geneva ( the first bonus...)

The chalet itself is astonishingly lovely - beautifully and sensitively renovated from old farm buildings just a couple of years ago, and now luxuriously comfortable with fabulous bedrooms, massive lounges, hot tub and sauna. The Sky TV, X Box and free internet access kept the kids (& adults!) happy and there are loads of balconies, verandahs and quiet corners to escape to with a book. The mix of old wood and new glass is so satisfying and everything reaks of understated, relaxed luxury.

The location is in a small farming hamlet just above Samoens, so it's a 10 minute drive to the bottom of the gondola for skiing - not a problem as Su and Andy make it their job to get you there and back at times that suit.

Samoens is beautiful - a genuine old French town, not a purpose built ski resort, yet the gondola whisks you up to the huge and high Grand Massif skiing area in minutes. The skiing is great for all ages and levels - our group stays mainly on wide blues and reds of which there are loads, with some perfect runs down through the trees to Flaine, Morillon and Les Carroz.

The clincher is the food and service - Su and Andy seem genuinely pleased to have you in their home, and nothing is too much trouble. The evening meals were delicious and catered well for the kids, adults and several vegetarians in our group.

We have been for the past 2 winters now, and despite the undoubted thrill of trying to find somewhere new, I just don't think we could ever find anything to better Ferme du Ciel....see you there in 2010!

It was the best ever ski holiday I had. The house is amazing. You can't desire anything else. Everything was perfect for all age groups: adults, youths, kids.
Interior design, food, servise ,atmosphere was so good, that we really didn't want to leave. Andy and Su know exactly this line, where they can be perfect and not "overwelcoming" hosts. You can see them exactly when you need them and get the best service ever.
Even the location, which is quite far away from the village can't disturb the rest of the excellence.
