We went to the crocodile farm on 2nd July. A two hour train journey from Lyon ( quite enjoyable) after our car hire failed to materialise ( another story!).Then we did not know how to get there! But with the help of the tourist information and taxi firm in Pierrelatte we got there!
As it was nearly 1pm we decided to eat in the cafe there. The girl there did not understand us, but she got a colleague from out the back to tell us about the sandwiches. We decided on the chicken "sandwiches" . When they come they were like those at subway, but they were delicious. The staff at the cafe were friendly , helpful and cheerful !
The actual farm was incredible! I have never seen so many varieties of crocodiles so close up. They also had giant tortoises. For a lover of crocodiles like my husband it was heaven!! The only down side was that the signage could had been better. The map they gave you was numbered with the stages round the farm, but not all the numbers were on the ground to correspond. The explanation about each species was very good.
The gift shop had plenty of souvenirs for children which was all you really needed.
We left at 4pm when our taxi came back to pick us up to take to the station, It had been an enjoyable day - well worth the visit.
