The summer holiday in Les Gets was mainly chosen for our kids love of mountain biking. Although we had been nearby some time ago this was our first trip to Les Portes du Soleil. We were very impressed by the standard of accommodation in the chalet. Having 3 boys they each had there own room and the main living area was very spacious. There were excellent facilities for washing and drying beside the sauna area which were put to good use. The hot tub was also used by the boys, although it hadn't been working when we arrived it was fixed during our stay. There is also a shared garden with Chalet Alouette although we generally had this to ourselves when having a BBQ in the evening.
Marcus, Gina, and Jane were kind enough to book a couple of activities for us and Gina provided lots of information about walks that we could do.
Access to shops was within short walking distance, either down the hill to a small supermarket, or up the hill to the main town where there are plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants. The best supermarket was just outside Morzine which is a larger and busier town.
For those that like outdoor activities this a great place with plenty to do (although I don't recommend the white water rafting after a lot of rain). There were also plenty of places to visit including Chamonix, Annecy, and Yvoire. The new aquatic centre at Avoriaz was also good.
The only small negative points were that there was building work going on next door and the main road into Les Gets was closed for repair. This meant that it was more noisy and there was more traffic than there would usually be. I expect that once this was completed it would be much quieter. We had a great holiday there and would love to do it again.
