“Food is Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

Just returned from a short 4 day break booked the day before. The hotel is clean and warm with plenty of hot water. Its location is very central for bars, restaurants and importantly the slopes. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food is excellent with a very varied menu. I cant believe this was only a 2 star hotel. Would certainly visit again.

Room Tip: Our room was on the top floor which was quiet and overlooked the main street

We've just returned from a stay at the Galaxy Residence in Les Gets which is run by the same owners as the Hotel Stella we had a great stay - the two room apartment is spacious but very basic ( no kettle or toaster etc) and located extremely centrally and only a 5 minute walk from the main gondola and chair lifts in the centre of the village. The owners were incredibly helpful - our car was stranded on the outskirts of the village due to a heavy snowfall and the owner came to find us and take us to hotel and then took us back to the car the next day.
I'd recommend the place for a budget stay if you want to be well located but are not expecting luxury.

Booked at the last minute for a ski holiday. Rooms great good size, clean and warm. Food really good each evening and breakfast, if you enjoy continental really good. If you like full English, bit limited. Staff really friendly and catered well for us all times. We'd certainly come again. Great position for the ski lifts, only a short walk and many Bars and shops very handy. Free car park for hotel and garage at a price but we thought worth it. We arrived very late due to snow and they had a lovely meal waiting for us. No complaints really friendly.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

We stayed in a triple room late in the ski season (April 2013) for 5 nights. I really couldn't flaw the pre arrival care, I emailed to ask about transfer from Geneva and paid for a private transfer by the hotel. Great value and the owners brother was also an excellent guide on the way driving us through Geneva to show us some of the sites.

On arrival we were checked in and came straight down to dinner, which was included in our half board rate. It was excellent, first night a classic french fondue, and the meals just got better and better.

We had 4 courses every night including a classic cheese plate and the wine prices were very reasonable. It was late in the season so some of the wine selection was limited but a great range of local and classic french wines.

Breakfast was classically continental but the service was speedy and fresh tea, coffee and chocolate was always available for the family.

I accept it's not 5 star but as a base for skiing it is very close to everything that is happening in Les Get and the lifts are minutes away.

The rooms were clean and serviced every day.

I will definitely be back!

We have just stayed for 6 nights at the Galaxy apartments of the Stella hotel. The hotel is very well located on the main street and is literally a minute walk from the ski lifts. The apartment is part 'alpine ski lodge' (pine on most of the walls) and part 'nan's house in the 1970's' (green patterned tiles and old furniture). The bed in the main bedroom was very uncomfortable and I would advise you to take your own pillows. There was no duvet, just blankets. There is no English TV, which is not good if you are travelling with children and the bathroom set up is very odd. The toilet is on it's own by the front door and the bathroom is on the other side of the living area / bedroom, so if you need to use the facilities in the night, you will have to treck through somebody's sleeping area if you are using the lounge area beds. The bathroom has no shower curtain, which is very odd too.

However, despite the poor, dated facilities, I have rated it as 'average' as it was relatively inexpensive. You get what you pay for with this place. This would be a great choice if you wanted something cheap that you do not intend to spend much time in.

We had a great week ski-ing in Les Gets. We hired our skis and boots from Delavay, at the bottom of the ski lifts. They let you store your skis there too, so you don't need to walk back to the hotel in your boots. We had ski tuition with Pete from 'The Edge' ski school. He was really good and I would recommend him. Les Gets was very quiet most evenings, but we had a few nice meals (Le Case K2 and Les Copeaux) and enjoyed a few drinks in Bar Bush.

Just back from a long weekend skiing in Les Gets and stayed at the Hotel Stella for 4 nights. Hotel was very clean and friendly, room very comfortable and ideal for a short skiing break. The food in the hotel was a set menu every evening and superb. The last night was a fondue and very tasty and fun too. All the staff were friendly and helpful, we could not fault them. Definitely recommend this hotel and will return again!

Just returned from a ski short break in Les Gets and would highly recommend the Stella. As previous reviewers have said, if you want 5 star you need to pay for it! But if you want a comfy bed, central location, hot water after a long day of skiing and good food then the Stella is perfect. We had no issues at all with the restaurant manager - he was efficient, courteous and did a great job, assisted by another waiter, Previous reviews mentioned there only being one choice - the food was delicious and well presented and a couple of people who refused the soup one evening were immediately offered an alternative. The buffet style breakfast was good with a lot of choice. There was one French family with 2 boys who were very quiet and well behaved in the restaurant - other than that it was all couples and small groups of friends. Probably not really a family hotel. The bedroom and en suite were really clean and the beds surprisingly comfy. Yes, it's maybe a little tired but on a ski holiday, you only need somewhere to eat, wash and sleep! Only 2 minutes walk from the slopes and lots of ski hire shops. We hired skis from Ski Republic and got 2 for 1 , just opposite the lifts and you can store your skis and boots there (even though the boots were our own).
