Dated 11th January 2007.
We have just returned from an excellent family skiing holiday at the L'Alpage. Situated on a quiet road about 3 miles from La Clusaz, the hotel is a level 50 metre walk away from the Les Joux drag lifts and an easy 100 metres downhill ski to the green run back into town - snow conditions permitting. Whilst a car is desirable - ours didn't move while the snow was good - it is not essential and the hotel can pick you up from Geneva Airport if required.
The hotel has 9 bedrooms - we had a good look around most of them because we were the only guests for a couple of days - and a detached chalet, and all were very clean, comfortable and traditionally furnished. The lounge has an open fire, a large plasma TV and DVD player where the children could relax after a hard day on the slopes. The meals were interesting and varied and whilst the menu was fixed, the hotel management always checked that it was to our liking at breakfast or during the day and if it wasn't, they were happy to accommodate any special requests.
Serge - the owner for 5 years - had just sold the business prior to our arrival and was in the process of handing over to the new managers, Suzy and Thiery. They couldn't have been more helpful (letting us change rooms at one point so we could be nearer the children) and Thierry kept us laughing with his comical antics for the whole week.
We have no hesitation in recommending the L'Alpage.
