Stayed here for four nights half board, mid March. We had booked with the L'arc en Ciel at Petit Chatel, but when I read the latest reviews from English guest, I decided to cancel, there was a sudden batch of French review all 5 * which I found suspicious, we did call in to check it out in December and didn't get a good feeling. Any way we changed to the l'Ensoleille, and it was fantastic. It has recently been refurbished to a very high standard, we had a family room which was large, with bunk beds and a balcony, we opted for the room in the older part of the hotel as it was cheaper, but it was great. Breakfast was good with a choice of eggs, croissants, ham cheese fruit cereal etc fresh juice and coffee. Evening meal was four course and excellent, with two choices of every course, well presented local food expertly cooked, the staff were lovely, we could speak some French and they some English so we muddled along. We hired a car and there is a large car park behind the hotel, the nearest slopes are Cret Beni 5 mins away and the main Portes du Soliel 10min drive, if you need a ski bus it stops opposite the hotel and runs every 1/2 hour and it's no hassle to catch it. There is a great lively bar downstairs and a lovely swimming pool and sauna. I cannot rate this hotel highly enough, Sonya the owner was lovely, rooms excellent, staff great and food outstanding and I'm fussy... Don't be put of that it's not Chatel, this is a lovely village, give it a try.
