“Great staff and good value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2012

We stayed in this hotel as part of a package holiday and for the price we paid, I thought we got an excellent return.
The hotel had been recently refurbished and the rooms were spacious and with plenty of storage (a rare find in the French Alps!). The bathroom had a full size bath and powerful shower.
The staff were one of the most positive points of the hotel. They were always friendly and helpful throughout the week and when we met any of them outside of the hotel they were happy to have a chat with us.
The food wasn't the greatest ever - don't expect local smelly cheesy dishes, but it was still perfectly acceptable and inoffensive - although it would have benefited from larger portions.

The evening's entertainment wasn't bad either with the cheese and wine tasting being good fun and also an open mic night.

I would definitely be happy to stay there again.

Me and my husband stayed at the Belle Aurore last in week in Alpe d'huez,
It was our first time in France skiing and had an incredible week, the snow was great and the hotel was first class for the price we paid. Staff were friendly and went out of there way when my husband hurt his knee.
The rooms were nice and the view was fantastic from our balcony. Food was ideal after a day on the slopes and the wine tasting evening with Gary and his staff was hilarious. A great week and will definetly come back!

Thank you

To start with, first impressions count. The hotel appeared smart and tidy from the outside, it was when we met the manager and the rest of the staff our expectations were shattered. From the off they were more interested in up-selling helicopter flights to another resort as apposed to reassuring us that our stay would be great. When it came to our first evening meal, we were again let down. The wine was watered down, the food, which seemed to follow a similar trend throughout the week was cold, overcooked and somehow undercooked at the same time. On one occasion when I returned my meal completely un-eaten, my eating habits were firstly questioned by the waitress and then I was shouted at and treated like a 2 year old who hadn't eaten his greens. Something else that followed a similar trend as the week went on was the consistently 'hung-over' staff at breakfast every morning. Once I saw one of the waitresses actually wretch while stood by the croissants. I could go on and on about this place, but I really think the key faults with service and especially the quality of the food lies with the management. Gary ward was our hotel manager and on the departing day after reading my review decided to corner me with several members of his staff and give me what felt like a good hiding. He was clearly embarrassed when I likened his managerial qualities to that of a goat herder. Overall then, this hotel is quite simply one of the worst places you could spend your week at, either while skiing or over the summer. If you are a fan of the tv sitcom series 'Faulty Towers' and you want a real-life experience, then this is the place for you!!

Our stay in the Alps was clearly not for snow! The staff gave us advise of where to go and what was open. The food was excellent, we had the best blue cheese and broccoli soup we have ever tasted to name but one! Nothing seemed too much Trouble for the staff. Thanks Guys x

We stayed at the Belle Aurore from 24th Jan to 31st Jan 2010. Lucky to get a room overlooking the front with a large balcony. Good sized room, decent bathroom that could have done with a fixed shower & curtain instead of the hand held one. Dinner pretty basic but just about adequate after a hard days skiing. Breakfast very limited but again enough to fill you up. Shame the coffee was always luke warm and never hot. The 40odd school kids there behaved very well and vacated the TV lounge by around 10pm most nights. The hotel was fantastically located and just a few yards away from a lift that carried you to the main ski area. You could ski practically back to the side of the hotel. The staff were a pretty young bunch and the ski technician knew his stuff. We were really pleased with the location & hospitality of this hotel. For under £400 you can forgive the few small points that you would expect to pay another £100odd pounds for elsewhere. Great Value For Money and very well situated to access the best slopes and the town centre.

We had a really great stay at this hotel. It was brilliant value for money. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome with a warm and friendly approach. This extended to them putting on impromptu entertainment on New Years eve for us guests who didnt want to brave the cold and stayed in for the festivities. This bunch really made our trip great and we would definitely stay here again.

OK we paid a low price and got a good package, but we got an overall low quality product.
Staff were typically out for the season with some quite good but evident lack of management leadership and an apathy begining to spread to the good ones even this early in the season.
The manageress showed lack of initiative- a broken ice machine excuse given for no ice in the bar for the week despite sub zero temps outside and a sister hotel in the resort
Bedrooms very tired, ripped seating to bedroom chairs (if you got one) .
Certain housekeeping issues evident in the bedrooms with a distinct lack of attention detail.
Broken glass on the terrace was not cleared away and subsequently covered by snow .
Whilst the food quality was acceptable even good the bean counters had got to work on the extremely small food portions which were taking the mick for a skiing holiday.
It was difficult to reason if these problems were due to the hotel or the company management
