“Tired facilities and poor service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012 via mobile

This hotel has a great setting but nothing more - upon arrival we were shown to our room by a very grumpy female receptionist who couldn't even stretch to explain the hotel facilities or room facilities, some of which were broken - this im afraid epitomised the arrogance of the hotel throughout our stay. In brief, this is also definitely the noisiest hotel I have ever stayed in; the pool lounger beds are mouldy; the pool is not cleaned regularly enough; the breakfast restaurant is soulless and the food offering very poor with terrible service. And so on....we were very disappointed particularly given the five star cost and would not go back.

Upon checking into the resort we greeted by some very polite, and helpful staff and welcomed to an exceptionally clean hotel, which was everything we had hoped for when booking our break. The receptionist took our card details as we checked in, however failed to mention any problems with the hotels air conditioning. Upon being taken to our room and explained all the hotel details, she left the room, and returned a few moments later to tell us she had forgotten to mentioned a very small details - that all the hotels in the local area had no air conditioning, and that hopefully the problem would be fixed soon, with no date. I explained my dissatisfaction that there was no air conditioning, and the receptionist had a mini air conditioning unit brought to our room. I knew the receptionists statement around why there was no air conditioning was a lie (knowing that is not how air conditioning works) – however chose not pass comment. The mini air conditioning was 1) Very loud 2) The tube pumping out the hot air from the air conditioning unit required the balcony sliding door to be left ajar, resulting in the room not being very cool, and secondly being kept awake by all the external noises.

Having suffered an awfully hot first night at the hotel, I was later told by another helpful receptionist that in fact there was a problem with a small part of the hotels air conditioning and that they were having trouble getting the technician to come from Paris to resolve the issue. Having heard two contrasting stories in as many days, I was clearly disappointed to relaise I had been obviously lied to by the first young receptionist.

The second and third night followed a similar pattern of trying to sleep, rest and relax in a hot room, and as a result my wife and I struggled to get quality sleep. I discussed the air conditioning with the hotel general manager and he again enforced the point that they were waiting for the technician to fix it, and apologized.

Without being able to rest & sleep – any holiday fails to be successful. Whilst my wife and I were really impressed with the staff, the pool, the super hotel food, and excellent room, not to mention the hotel shuttle, not being able to rest, recuperate and sleep left us with a very bitter / sweet view on your hotel.

If we wanted to stay in a hotel with no air conditioning, we would have done so and probably paid a significantly reduced rate versus the Kube’s nightly rate with air conditioning. However, we desired a room with air conditioning, which the Kube advertise. We paid for a service which the Kube failed to deliver on any of the nights during our 3 night stay. Whats really frustrating is that there has been previous reviews on Trip advisor (one example 20th July 2011) almost a year ago complaining about the air conditioning not working, and they have failed to correct this.

We feel we have been terribly let down by the hotel in failing to provide a very basic service, and feel we certainly have not received the service of a 4* boutique hotel in St Tropez. Having written into the hotel since this, the email was ignored for 3 weeks, and then the hotel manager responded with a soft email that he apologised, and that it was unfortunate that they could not get it fixed quicker. When I asked for this to be escalated to the manager of all the Kube hotels / the owners he simply ignored by subsequent two emails.

St Tropez is a wonderful place, and this hotel is fantastic in almost everything it does - however its general attitude to the air conditioning was poor during our stay, and even worse having left and raised this to them. If you want to risk 300-500 euros a night on a hotel that does not have air conditioning then its up to you....

We had high expectations for KUBE Hotel - St Tropez, but sadly was highly unimpressed by the state of the hotel, the staff, and the general lack of awareness of the hotel guests. We booked this hotel through a highly respected website, and hence thought we would be in for a wonderfully relaxing week. How we were wrong! If it was not for the fact we had a sea view, we would have quite happily walked out. The hotel exterior is not what one would expect of a boutique hotel: the back pool was not in use due to it being dirty; many of the small ponds surrounding the front and back pool were empty; the trees, hedges and grass are all dying; and general upkeep of the exterior is in a terrible state. Apart from one barman who knew his job, the rest of the staff had little idea of what they were actually supposed to be doing. For example, there was no "pool person", so the state of the "sun beds" - mattresses covered up in plastic and old covers! - were not up to scratch. One asked for a towel, and back came a response, "sorry we have none at the moment". Overall there seemed to be no one actually in charge of the day to day well being of its guests, as well as controlling the staff. Look, the view is lovely and the shuttle service (free and on demand) to get into St Tropez (takes no more than 10 mins) is terrific, but come on, if one is paying that much money for a room (and the one we stayed in - "L" - was quite standard at that) then they have to get their act together, and fast! To be quite frank, there are far better hotel options than this one when one is paying this much money for a "Design Hotel".

Room Tip: If one can get a cheap rate than MAKE SURE you book into one of the rooms with a terrace and sea vie...

Unhelpful staff. Phone with half the buttons not working. No water in the back pool by our room. No room service at night. Unable to find anyone with good enough English to help us figure out how to get movies on the tv. Too far from town. Tiny barren unwelcoming room. Beautiful pool at front and view, but nowhere near a beach or town. Few guests. One restaurant closed. Bar shut at 11pm. No party atmosphere at all. We left after 1 night even though booked for 2...Not what we expected and we are familiar with boutique style hotels.

We booked this hotel on a travelzoo deal and for the price we paid, £150 per night for 3 nights including breakfast, one welcome drink and one session per person in the Ice Bar, which would have been great if we had actually received them, seemed a great Kube, St Tropez deal. The Ice Bar, open only to residents, was closed and we had to 'book an appointment' to attend our free vodka tasting session; after the second attempt and waiting over 15 minutes for someone to open the bar we gave up and retired for the evening instead. The room door mechanism was broken making it very difficult to get into the room, which they promised to fix but didn't, also the drains in the bathroom were rather 'whiffy' and we had to put the plugs in the sinks and bath plugholes to stop the smell from drifting into the bedroom area, unfortunately the plugs did not open again as they should when we needed them to and we had to use the corkscrew to prise them open again, these were not fixed either during our three day stay.

On checking out of the hotel we were told that we "had to ask a member of staff to open the Ice Bar even though we had booked a reservation for 9pm", so be prepared to spend a good deal of your vacation time chasing after the staff to get the included offers in your deal; as for the welcome drink - we didn't get one! We were charged for two of the three breakfasts which resulted in an argument with the checkout receptionist about the bill and when we suggested that they waived the 10 Euros coffee bill in lieu of not receiving the welcome drinks and the Ice Bar offer included in the price paid, you would think we had asked for a full refund and the attitude of Peggy Mimieux, Reservation Manager, had to be witnessed to be believed, treating us as a second rate customers because of the offer price we had paid.

On the good side the location and setting of the hotel is great and the breakfast/bar staff and night staff were excellent, if the management would realise they run a 4 star French hotel, not the Burj al Arab, Dubai, it would be a great place to stay; but we would be reluctant to pay the full rates they charge.

Room Tip: sea view for the view but you get the traffic noise rear view sun and small pool

True luxury hotel for adults just next to St Tropez on a shore. Very cool bar/breakfast room and beautiful rooftop terrace. Sub-zero Ice bar downstairs, which I don´t understand in place like Nizza, but hey, I am from Finland ;)
Bit expencive but if You want luxury You have to pay for it...

Room Tip: Ask for a room on top floor with a view to the sea (more expensive)

Stayed here this summer for a couple of days with friends and family and all of us were
Very happy.
Food & beverage,the service,the staff,all was great.
Our room was very comfortable and the view from the pool into the bay of st. Tropez was
breath taking !!
I loved the atmosphere in the hotel, by day it was quiet and easy chilling at the pool, at night the hotel became a hot place to be in St Tropez.
We loved it and next summer, we definetaly come back.
