Our arrival at 16:00 was greeted with a locked door bearing a note that the hotel opened at 18:00. Telephoning the hotel met with a recorded announcement to the same effect. This was disappointing as this restriction had not been mentioned in any of several email exchanges with the owners concerning this booking. Admission was gained by knocking on the front door of the next-door house, occupied by the previous generation of the owner's family. Our room, when we eventually got there, was basic but scrupulously clean and adequately spacious. Most importantly, during a period of freakishly cold weather, it was warm. The wi-fi was excessively tedious as it required complete re-registration (not mere logging-in) every four hours. Dinner in the restaurant is a pleasant affair, with generous portions of attractive unpretentious food. Breakfast, taken in the bar, is a selection of bread & pastries.
