“another great stay in this lovely hotel....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013

Stayed at the Beffroi again this August, a haven of peace a short stroll above the bustling town of Vaison, which has a great range of shops and restaurants. The pool on the terrace remains a real highlight as is the garden salad restaurant, the chuch bell is off so our excellent spacious airy rooms were even more tranquil. Friendly staff, a great place to stay.

Room Tip: Superior rooms in main hotel or annexe are great

This is a review for 2 rooms. The room quality varies quite a bit. One of the rooms needs some TLC. The carpet looks dirty and so is the comfortable cover. The room feels a bit like a dungeon. The chair is not very comfortable and the bed is a bit saggy. The other room is in much better shape with nicer furniture and looks recently renovated. There is a lounge area just outside of the room shared by (4) rooms.

Swimming pool is gorgeous and has a great view of city. There are a lot of lounge chairs to hang out. Since the room isn’t as comfy so it made hanging out by the pool more enjoyable
The hotel is in fact an attraction itself. The view is unbeatable throughout and the atmosphere and experience of living in the castle compensated for the lack of comfort in the room. Walking up and down the hill can be draining for the elderly but it is an enjoyable stroll.

There are also several café and a pizza place down at the hill if you don’t want to venture out to the town. I believe are other hotels up on the castle but Le Beffori is definitely the best one there both in terms of location and view. We were transformed from the modern world to the medieval times for a few days.

Room Tip: May be room with bath is nicer than the one with shower

This was the best hotel in our three week stay in France. Authentic medieval setting, beautiful room with bath, amazing view, and truly elegant dinners in the atrium area. The staff was friendly and the town below the old city was charming. Roman ruins were only a short walk away. We loved everything about the old town and the hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back of the hotel have a stunning panoramic view of the area.

My family took a vacation to France in early July, and one of the places that we visited was Vaison-la-Romaine. We stayed at the Le Beffroi, and it was by far our most favorite place out of the whole trip. The hotel is of great historical significance, and it located in the medieval part of Vaison La Romaine. It has been beautifully refurbished; the rooms were very clean, unique, charming. It is one of a kind!! The staff were so helpful and friendly. The pool is FANTASTIC!! Gorgeous views, amazing location, complete and utter charm. The breakfast in the morning was very nice too and the restaurant was one of the best meals we had in France. Even though we had our older teenage kids with us, it was still a good family location, although we needed two rooms. This is the IDEAL romantic place to stay for a just two people though. Highly recommend, and will hopefully get to go back someday.

If I could repeat all my hotel stays during our recent three week trip, it would be this hotel. Yes, it's difficult to drive a car into. Yes, it's hard to get your bag up the stairs. Yes, it is quaint in some ways. Yet the staff is wonderful, the room feels more like home than you would expect, and your views are spectacular. We arrived in the pouring rain, yet we were assisted in every possible way, including umbrella assistance, places to go where there was some shelter, where to snack and to dine, and detail on how to walk around. This is what you expect when you are paying a higher price for a room-service. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, regardless of the time of year that you go. It's close to everything, and an experience in and of itself. Bathroom was great as well and well stocked with toiletries. Warm, comfy bed with a fountain softly gurgling right outside our window.

Lovely hotel in the medieval part of Vaison La Romaine in Provence. Delightful & worth the splurge. Staff is accommodating & helpful. Driving up to park is a tad scary as the road is narrow, windy, and cobblestoned.

Room Tip: I chose the standard double and the shower is tiny. F you can, upgrade to get a better bathroom.

This renovated medieval structure is ideally located (except for handicap access) inside the ancient fortress-like city of Vaison, with commanding views of the countryside. We stayed here for ten days last June with a bicycling group, and found the staff, the hospitality, the food, and the accomodation all excellent. The last word in luxury le Beffroi is not, but its ambience and value are unbeatable. The hillside location offers quiet and relative isolation for light sleepers. There is a very nice pool, and the garden patio overlooking the city is very pleasant. For those who travel by (small) car, there is adjacent parking if one is willing to negotiate the very narrow access portal.

Room Tip: the recently annexed building just uphill from the main reception is quiet and has excellent views a...
