Been there for the past 20 years, 1x or 2x per year. It is now the 2nd generation and when the owners recognize your face or name, the welcome is of course better. I do understand that people can be disappointed, as it is a familly hotel which requires sticking to the spirit. Anyway, the place is extremely charming, cosy, quiet and close to everything, assuming you know the small streets to go to Ramatuelle or St-Tropez. Breakfast makes you feel at home, which is never the case in a 5*. Beach is walking distance, St-Tropez is probably 20 min walk (allways went by car). Then you have 2 profiles of peolpe going to St-Tropez: those mid July-August and the others. I belong to the 2nd group, hence with different expectation. No restaurant but plenty of place around.
They built a new aisle a couple of years ago and renovated part (all?) of the rooms in the old aisle. Make sure you get a renovated one. Rooms are simple, clean, all with AC, with either terrace (up) or garden (ground floor). Terraces are pretty private.
