This hidden place is kept jealously secret by locals. Drive slowly on the scenic road overlooking the sea between La Ciotat and St Cyr. Don’t go too fast or else you will miss the right turn at the cabalistic sign “Liouquet”. Then drive 500 meters on the narrow country road amidst the low walls of stones and the scented Mediterranean gardens. You will find the restaurant on your left. Relax! You reached paradise… In summertime, Edwige will offer you a seat under the olive trees. Seat down in the shade; Let the sea breeze cool you down and listen to the waves hitting the cliff 50 yards below. In wintertime, enjoy the cozy atmosphere of the inner part of the restaurant, topped by a Tuscan roof. Chef Damien Arnaud’s cuisine is the only true gastronomic experience offered by La Ciotat these days. Before he takes over this restaurant, he was 2nd Chef of La Bonne Etape, a 1 star Michelin restaurant in upper Provence, and you can truly feel the knack. In winter 2011, don’t miss the scallops on apple remoulade, the venison stew or the partridge cooked in 2 different ways. The wines selection, mainly local, includes some good value bottles. Service is smiling and attentive, as are Damien and Edwige, a promising couple of true professionals who took over this place 2 years ago. Expect 50 Euro pp., however, this is worth it to the last penny!
