“A Must...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2014

... for lovers of Proust, and not just for them. This is the prettiest of the restaurants we went to in Bandol. As others have said its opening are a bit erratic but we booked as soon as it opened again and smugly watched people being turned away. There's a rather limited menu - often a good sign - but we had no problem choosing and thoroughly enjoyed the meal.

“Delightful restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2014

I have eaten here many times and have always found it very good.
Run by a husband and wife team - he cooking fresh, inventive dishes in the kitchen and she doing front of house / serving in a charming very efficient manner
Very good value prix fixe menu of €26 for 3 courses
Piquillos farcie , filet of macquereau, magret de canard, clafoutis, gazpacho of ananas
Each lovely dish presented beautifully on black plates
Small a la carte menu also fairly priced
Short wine list of local wines including some 50cl bottles
Nicely appointed but not suitable for those with restricted mobility as toilet is up a steep stairs

“good food from this husband and wife team”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2014

rue Dr Marcan is the <restaurant street> in Bandol and this restaurant is almost the last one in the row. It seems often closed or fully booked when in the past we have tried to eat there. husband cooks and wife is front of house. Limited choices menu but very good value for €26. i got carpaccio beef, john dory on risotto and whole peach with creamy dessert. smooth Pey Neuf rose. i liked the flavours though my wife felt her avocado and salmon, and the risotto were a bit rich in texture. so maybe a lighter texture would have prompted a 5 out of 5 marking from us

“Top food”

What a surprise here in Bandol.
Fantastic food. I eat several times a week in restaurants but this one belongs with the best. The lady servicing is very nice and perfectly organised. Chapeau

“Odd name but great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

Book a table - especially in high season - as this place fills up fast and for good reason. There was ONE waiter/maître d' on duty yet he managed to look after everyone - and it was full on a Friday night - without any problem. Excellent food, good choice of Bandol wines (don't drink anything else when you're down in this part of France - it would be a crime). The set menu at 27 Euros was excellent and although limited choice (2 starters, mains, puds) you really don't need anything more. It's also at the slightly quieter end of the inner street which means you don't feel hassled by visitors in high season. Definitely worth a detour.
