“Friendly staff is worthy of the visit and you'll overlook any small inadequacies.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2013

The staff made the stay....they were welcoming and helpful from start to finish (in all areas of the hotel!). The hotel is in a great location for exploring Dignes and the many hiking trails and areas surrounding. We only tried breakfast at the hotel and it was lovely, but very pricey. The hotel itself is charming and a nice step back in time decor-wise; the rooms and bathrooms are very clean and well equipped. However, they could use some air conditioning as it's not yet peak of summer and it was very warm; a 'double' bed is actually two twins placed together, but no method to secure them together and since they are still made separately you will fall between the two...Yes, that happened. ;) The rooms unfortunately offer no soundproofing and all the doors are quite squeaky....plan to get to know your neighbours. Otherwise, a charming stop at the end of the line and the staff's hospitality alone is worth the visit.

Room Tip: Bring earplugs. Otherwise....ours was great and it was apparently one of the smaller double rooms.

It is a great location to visit the town. The room was warming, the staff was very friendly and courteous. The restaurant was delicious and while stayung true to the French tradition. I wish we could retourn as soon as possible.

We made the booking as we found the place on the booklet of the "Maitres cuisiniers de France" who usually lists very good places. This one was unfortunately below our expectations. The room was clean but with a view over a roof..no AC. The bathroom was very basic.
With regards to the restaurant we had our meal outside on the terrace. Very nice terrace but the table had very ugly plastic looking table cloth. Food was good but not outstanding as I was expecting knowing that the chef was a "Maitre cuisinier de France". I have to say however that the personnel was very kind.

All the rooms are different, no sound proof, antique furnishings, modern and clean bathrooms. Very friendly staff, however the service and the amentity itself is maximum 2 star. Scarce shampoo, no conditioner, no body lotion, broken hair-dryer, no heating when outside temperature is 10 degrees. We did not try the restaurant. The location is good. Do not pay for the parking 8 Euros/day, there is a free public parking in front of the hotel. Do not pay for breakfast, it does not cost 17 Euros per person.

Room Tip: ask for the lower floors

Parking in locked garage at rear good, but had to enter hotel through basement, and kitchens. Not good first impression. Very old hotel, clearly family run. Room dated, tired in decour and very dark throughout. Room spacious enough with adequate clean bathroom and the usual french handheld shower requiring you to kneel in the bath as no wall attachment. No air conditioning. We were in the better room but were still looking out onto the industrial back with bins etc. Very noisey from traffic at front. Staff pleasant but not abundant. One lad seemed to do everything. (but fairly cheerful). Had evening meal. I have eaten alot of french food but nothing like this. Was trying to be a la carte and failed. Unusual. and grossly overpriced. Thankgoodness only 1 night

We really enjoyed staying at Le Grand Paris for one night in September. Our room was exceptionally large and the bathroom was modern and very nice. The staff was superb. They could not have been more attentive or friendly. Our dinner in the hotel restaurant was outstanding. We were pleasantly suprised to find this hotel so charming and a welcome respite after a long day of driving. We highly recommend this hotel!

this is a very nice old world elegant hotel . It was a delight to find this gem in the middle of the beautiful mountains . The city is very lively and there is a great sports club and pool directly across the street which was a great advantage and fun to enjoy a swim in a olympic size pool . There is a wonderful outdoor courtyard for dining complete with fountains. The service is impeccable and everything has a true handmade touch . The dining is run by a michelin 2 star chef and you will find everything to be outstanding .
The entire hotel is spotless and all the staff were so professional and welcoming . The concierge went out of her way to help us with finding our way to our next destination .
enjoy the experience of the old world charm and true hospitality !!!
