“Also businessman loves this place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

I stayed nearly one week in La Bonne vie.
After a lang day of meetings and appointments it's really nice
to come back to rest in this hotel.
The rooms and bathrooms are super clean, well maintained... ,
well done Carol.
Free and fast WIFI is also one of the big advantages.
The super chef Carl knows what cooking is, all the dishes where
full of taste, the food was simply devine!

We had our wedding reception at A La Bonne Vie and several relatives stayed at the B and B prior to the big day. We also stayed for the wedding night.
It was absolutely fantastic. Carl and Carol are everything you would wish for in hosts, very friendly, good local knowledge and nothing is too much trouble - they even catered for the vegetarian and vegan diners among us - a rarity in France!
The food is wonderful, among the best I've ever eaten in France and great value for money.
The B and B itself is very comfy with everything you need in the living quarters and both the bedrooms and the restaurant has lovely views across the countryside.
It was the perfect choice to celebrate our special occasion and is also a great place to enjoy a holiday - I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking to visit the area.

A La Bonne Vie is a gorgeous hotel and restaurant located in a small picturesque village in Niort. Chef Carl is amazing, the food was simply devine!
We were staying for a wedding, as we have family in the area
Carol is an excellent hostess, servicing both the bar and waiting area.
We stayed in the downstairs room, with comfy bed and en suite facilities.
The upstairs has 3 separate rooms and a shared living room.
Located next to the village church with lovely countryside views from the balcony area at the back of the restaurant.
The clientele included some locals which we took as a good sign, that they had accepted the English owners into the community.
would definitely return!

Friends living in the area recommended this auberge to us. And what a great recommendation it turned out to be. Friendly owners, friendly and efficient staff; a 'can do' attitude shown by all and, of course, excellent accommodations and a restaurant that has superb food (who says the British don't know about cuisine?).

Spotlessly clean rooms and bathrooms, well maintained and light and airy.

Food to suit any taste - their Friday lunch menu is wonderful! Breakfasts that have quality and choice.

All this for very reasonable prices and the friendliness is thrown in for free. Compare this with many similar French establishments where diffidence reigns. The owners and staff work hard at their jobs and deserve success.

Room Tip: Only a small establishment but all rooms well furnished and well maintained.

We stayed at A La Bonne Vie in August 2011. We stayed in 4 different places during our trip and A La Bonne Vie was BY FAR the best of the 4 and probably one of the best places we’ve stayed at in France, and we’ve done many many trips. Having put up with uncomfortable beds, tiny and rather scruffy rooms at the other 3 locations, we were bowled over when we arrived at A La Bonne Vie to find such clean, fresh and spacious rooms with a large, clean and shiny en-suite. There was even a comfortable sitting area with free wi-fi and a TV with DVD’s to watch. The interesting thing was that the cost of a night’s stay at this Auberge was very similar to the other places we’d just stayed in. Maybe it just takes the English to up the stakes and offer excellent accommodation. There was also complimentary tea and coffee in our room (none of the others offered this, disappointingly).

Then……. there was the restaurant!!! Wow….. that was exceptional too. We had a stunning lunch when we arrived and a wonderful breakfast the following morning before we hit the road. My husband had a full English breakfast, which was as good a breakfast as you could possibly ask for. I had fruit, toast and croissants which came with all sorts of other lovely goodies too.

I can’t recommend this Auberge / B&B more highly. It was an absolute pleasure to enjoy. It should be noted that the owner/chef is an ex-army chef, hence the exceptional food. I am very confident in recommending this place to Trip Advisor readers. The owners were warm and very friendly too.
